Text: 2 Kings 7:3-11
Memory verse:
“For if I preach the gospel, I have nothing to boast of, for necessity is laid upon me; yes, woe is me if I do not preach the gospel!”
‭‭I Corinthians‬ ‭9‬:‭16‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Good news is someone or something that is positive, encouraging, uplifting, and desirable. The greatest good news is the news of salvation of man from sin through Jesus Christ. The dragon slayer has been born. The cause and curse of sin has been dealt with. It is called the gospel of Jesus Christ.
The angels were so excited about Jesus’ birth that they didn’t delay a minute to announce the news.. “Then the angel said to them, “Fear not, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people. For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.” ‭‭(Luke‬ ‭2‬:‭10‬-‭11‬).‬‬
The good news is to be spread and shared and not to be concealed. It should be spread with urgency and being silent about the good news that you are privileged to have can attract severe divine punishment (Ezek 3:18-19).
According to our text, the four lepers got to the Syrian camp to find out, to their surprise, that their fear had been taken care of. At first, they splurged in their newfound riches, but upon reflection, they knew they needed to tell others what they found and did so. “Then they said one to another, “We are not doing the right thing. This is a day of good news, yet we are keeping silent. If we wait until the morning light, some punishment [for not reporting this now] will come on us. So now come, let us go and tell the king’s household.” (II Kings‬ ‭7‬:‭9‬ AMP)‬‬.
Likewise, the scriptures command us to share the good news of salvation through Christ everywhere and to all people. “And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.” (Mark‬ ‭16‬:‭15‬)‬‬. It is a command and not an advice. A command is to be obeyed, and violation attracts sanction. This great responsibility lies upon everyone who has benefited from the good news and is now enjoying salvation in Christ to spread the news (1 Pet 2:9-10).
Friends, like the four lepers, don’t continue to feast on the gospel while others are dying of spiritual starvation. Let us not hoard the message of salvation which we are enjoying lest we attract divine sanction but let us do what is right and required of us.

Prayer points
1. Father, I receive grace to do what You require of me, to preach the gospel, during this season, and always, in Jesus’ name.
2. Father, please deliver me from selfishness and insensitivity to the salvation needs of others in Jesus’ name.

Today’s declarations
1. I won’t be wicked by hoarding information that can save others and which has saved me..
2. I am under orders to preach the gospel, and I am doomed if I don’t.
