ARE YOU GRATEFUL?

ARE YOU GRATEFUL?

Text: 2 Timothy 3:1-2
Memory verse:
”Does he thank that servant because he did the things that were commanded him? I think not.“
‭‭Luke‬ ‭17‬:‭9‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

One of the signs of the end time is ingratitude. It’s a destructive attitude of the last days. “For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, UNTHANKFUL, unholy”. (2 Tim 3:2 Emphasis added).
There are different categories of ungrateful people, but we shall be considering two of them.
1. Entitled believers. These are people who consider the blessings of God as their right and they get angry with God when they don’t have what they desire. In Luke 17:7-8, Jesus showed the case of a servant with an entitled heart condition. Jesus clearly demonstrated here that entitlement mindset is the enemy of gratitude. Rather than being grateful, the servant expected to be thanked and thought he or she was deserving of special praise just for doing their job. In the real sense, who among us can stand justified in His presence as to feel entitled? Entitlement mindset is a hindrance to spiritual growth because when we get unnecessarily angry with God, we withdraw from fellowship with Him and even with man.
2. Complainers. These are never satisfied with any good done to them. They always express dissatisfaction, grumbling, murmuring and annoyance over what God has provided in His grace and mumbling against all that isn’t right from their eyes. “Now when the people complained, it displeased the Lord; for the Lord heard it, and His anger was aroused. So the fire of the Lord burned among them and consumed some in the outskirts of the camp.“ (Num‬ ‭11‬:‭1‬). Did you notice God’s response? When He heard it, He was displeased and He set Himself to punish them. Complaining displeases God and attracts His wrath instead of His favour. They complained when they wanted what they didn’t have. They had everything except meat to eat and so they began to complain! Ungrateful people are blind to what they have and open to what they don’t have. Is this not common today?
Friends, do you have an attitude of gratitude. Ingratitude is a sin and it attracts a curse instead of blessings. Don’t allow the spirit of the last days to take hold of you. Appreciation is the antidote to depreciation. Ingrates have no future; they have no glory. Count your blessings and it will surprise you what God has done!

Prayer points
1. Father, please purge my mind of every entitlement mentality in Jesus’ name.
2. I refuse to be a complainer but a ‘praiser’ in Jesus’ name

Today’s declarations
1. I am a product of grace and I have no reason to be entitled.
2. Complaining makes a problem to be more complex, so I would rather be grateful.
