Text: Romans 5:12-17
Memory verse:
”And have made us kings and priests to our God; And we shall reign on the earth.”“ Revelation 5:10 NKJV
It’s common to see officials, even aids, disobeying an oppressive political leader once the electoral commission announces his defeat at the polls. Even though he hasn’t handed over to the new leader, but the fact that his days in that office are numbered, creates a mindset in the staff that he has lost his authority over them.
Ironically, some believers have the mindset that the devil still has authority over them. These folks dread the devil and have more faith in him than in God. Unfortunately, these believers continue to suffer defeat and then blame God for all their troubles. As long as they still have that mindset, they can’t live their new status in Christ. As long as they still see satan being in charge, they will remain perpetual victims.
However, this is the truth. When Adam rebelled against God in the garden of Eden and lost his authority, satan received the right to be in charge of the earth, hence he is called the god of this world. Satan began to reign from then until Christ, the second Adam came, who took back the authority and recovered the charge of the earth (Matt 28:18).
You know what? Jesus transferred this authority to His body, which is the church to continue to exercise that authority on earth. He is now seated at the right of God in heaven. He is the head of the church and every individual member of His body is conferred with the authority to execute His mandate on earth.
Thus, satan should no longer reign over us. Yes, he has no authority over us anymore. We have been given authority to reign on earth. “Death ruled like a king because Adam had sinned. But that cannot compare with what Jesus Christ has done. God has treated us with undeserved grace, and he has accepted us because of Jesus. And so we will live and rule like kings.” (Rom 5:17 CEV).
Friends, authority makes kings to rule and to reign. “The king acts with authority, and no one can challenge what he does.” (Ecc 8:4 GNT). That legal reign of satan on earth was terminated for the reign of believers to begin. As a king, you have authority over satan, demons and all evils. You are called to rule and reign on earth and to reign over situations and circumstances. Hallelujah!
