BE LOYAL TO YOUR ALLY

BE LOYAL TO YOUR ALLY

Text: 2 Chronicles 16:1-12
Memory text:
“For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is loyal to Him…”” ‭‭II Chronicles‬ ‭16‬:‭9‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

It is often said that “One with God is a majority”. As a covenant child, you are never alone (2 Chr 6:16; Matt 18:20). When you recognize this and consciously make the Almighty God your ally, He stands with you and gives you victory in every battle.
However, God won’t allow Himself to be used just as a means to an end. Some people seek God as their ally only to escape trouble but seek no relationship with Him. Others choose God as an ally today but dump Him after to choose the enemy of God. Just like in today’s world, if a nation has the United States as an ally, she can’t claim to have Russia or China as an ally also and vice versa.
God wants relationships and faithful relationships. Unfaithfulness is likened to prostitution and adultery. A prostitute has no steady relationship, rather any relationship ends immediately after her goal is achieved. Adulterers and adulteresses flirt around and break their marriage vows. God won’t sign up as an ally to His disloyal children. This is what James 4:4 says, “You adulteresses [disloyal sinners—flirting with the world and breaking your vow to God]! Do you not know that being the world’s friend [that is, loving the things of the world] is being God’s enemy? So whoever chooses to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God.” (AMP).
This is the pathetic story of King Asa, who once walked faithfully with God and had God as his strong Ally. Later, between the 15th and 35th year of his reign, he began to flirt with the enemy of God and became disloyal. When King Baasha of Israel threatened him, Asa forgot God, who helped him and his 580 men against the 1 million men of Zerah of Ethiopia and his 300 chariots (2 Chro 14:8-9). Rather, Asa emptied the treasures in the house of God to seek help from the pagan king of Syria against Baasha. He became so unfaithful that he even imprisoned Hanani, the Seer, who came to remind him of God’s help in the past. Even at the end of his life, he refused to seek help from God in his sickness until he died. Asa started well and ended badly because He forsook God as his Ally.
Friends, without God as your Ally, you are finished. Don’t seek help elsewhere, for the Almighty alone is sufficient for you. Don’t flirt around with the world nor be disloyal to Him, lest you lose Him. May you never lose God as your Ally. May you end well, in Jesus’ name.

Prayer points
1. Father, I receive grace not to flirt with the world but to be loyal to You all my days, in Jesus’ name.
2. I refuse to stumble or fall at the race of life and to end badly, in Jesus’ name.

Today’s declarations
1. God is sufficient as my strong Ally and I will never flirt with any other or the world.
2. As long as I remain loyal to my Ally God, He will continue to show Himself strong on my behalf and in every battle.
