Text: Job 22:21-28

Are there benefits of having a personal experiential knowledge of God? Don’t forget that this is different from knowing about God. So many people know about God but only few know God by experience or intimately (Psa 103:7).
Firstly, the knowledge of God builds up your faith and confidence in God. Faith grows by revelation knowledge of God. “So faith comes from hearing [what is told], and what is heard comes by the [preaching of the] message concerning Christ” (Rom 10:17 AMP). The NKJV of our text gives many benefits of acquainting oneself with God. Verse 23 says ‘…you will be built up’. That is, you will become spiritually strong, virile and robust.
Secondly, your exploit in life is a factor of your personal knowledge of God. ”… but the people who know their God shall be strong, and carry out great exploits.“ ‭‭(Dan‬ ‭11‬:‭32‬).
No exploit, that is, memorable, heroic and notable feats, can be done in God’s kingdom without going against opposing forces. You need to be strong to be able to resist and stand against the contrary wind. Revelation knowledge of God will infuse in you the spiritual strength needed to contend the forces. The NLT puts it like this, “But the people who know their God will be strong and will resist him.” You are as strong as the level of the personal knowledge of God that you have.
Thirdly, you cannot stand out in a dark world nor exhibit the excellent nature of God without an intimate knowledge of God. Acquainting yourself with God will cause good to come your way (Job 22:21). God has not called us into a common life but into a life of excellence in all areas of life. He wants to set us high above all the nations of the earth; to be heads and not tails; and to be blessed above all the peoples of the earth (Deu 7:14; 28:1, 13). The knowledge of God is our springboard to that height. ”“.. I will set him on high, because he has known My name“ ‭‭(Psa‬ ‭91‬:‭14).
To set on high in this context also means to position in a height that guarantees protection and security from all forms of evil (‭‭Psa‬ ‭27‬:‭5‬).
Friends, knowing God will give you far greater profit in life than the pursuit of any other knowledge or things.

Prayer points
1. Father, create an insatiable thirst for an intimate knowledge of You in my heart, in Jesus’ name.
2. Father, cause good to come to me and let my faith be built up as I daily acquaint myself more with You, in Jesus’ name.

1. Everything I need in life is tied to the knowledge and understanding of God that I have.
2. Intimate knowledge of God is my springboard to the top; the place of excellence and protection.
