BLESSINGS AND CAPACITY 2

BLESSINGS AND CAPACITY 2

Text: Hebrews 3:12-16
Memory text:
“Beware, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief in departing from the living God;”
‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭3‬:‭12‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Stop talking about how long you have been on the Christian journey or how long you have been in church. Instead, start talking about how much you have grown. Ask if your growth matches the years you have been in the journey or in the church? Years can pass while hearts remain small. Forty years of the Israelites walking, forty years of miracles, forty years of lessons, yet some died one step away from destiny. They died not because the journey was long, but because the growth was short; and time passed, but fear remained. The border of destiny exposes the one who truly grew. Let’s see how this happened to the Israelites.
Firstly, their hearts leaned towards Egypt despite all the miracles that they saw. Miracles don’t mature, only obedience does. Their problem was not primarily their feet but their hearts (Heb 3:10). They physically followed God but internally leaned toward Egypt, fear, and unbelief. You can walk with God outwardly and still wander inwardly.
Secondly, they went astray always.
They constantly went astray from God in their hearts; playing harlotry and unfaithfulness – repeated murmuring and unbelief (Num 14:33). It became a pattern, not a momentary failure. When wrong attitudes are not corrected, they grow to become permanent limitations.
Thirdly, they knew God’s acts but not His ways – His will, purpose, and methods (Psa 103:7). Knowing what God does is not the same as knowing His thoughts. Knowing about God is different from knowing God. It’s unfortunate that the error of the Israelites is still being repeated in the body of Christ. Some people who brag about the number of years they have spent in Christ or in church have no capacity to match that.
There are people who have seen the unbelievable move of God, yet their lives reflect gross unbelief, and their tongues gush out fears. Jesus rebuked the people of Chorazin and Bethsaida for this reason (Matt 11:21). Also, you can travel a long spiritual journey and still not enter God’s rest.
Friends, a long journey without heart transformation will frustrate you.
Long journey doesn’t provide solutions, neither does time with God guarantee maturity. Proximity does not mean intimacy. May your obedience build maturity and intimacy in Jesus’ name.

Prayer points
1. Father, cleanse my heart from every tendency to stray from You inwardly, even when I appear to follow You outwardly; and build in me the capacity to follow You fully, in Jesus’ name.
2. Holy Spirit, expose and heal every hidden fear, doubt, or Egypt-mindset in my heart; and let them not shrink my spiritual capacity, in Jesus’ name.

Today’s declarations
1. I am delivered from an untransformed heart that resists God’s ways. My journey is producing maturity and building capacity, not wasting time.
2. My heart will not wander while my feet walk with God. I have the capacity to carry the promise God has given me.
