BLESSINGS AND CAPACITY 4

BLESSINGS AND CAPACITY 4

Text: Numbers 14:1-4
Memory text:
“Jesus said to him, “If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes.””
‭‭Mark‬ ‭9‬:‭23‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Most electrical appliances have thermostats. A thermostat is not a heater or a cooler but a regulator. Once a desired temperature (the “normal”) is set, the thermostat turns the heater on if the room gets too cold. If the room gets too hot, the cooler turns on. Its job is to pull the environment back to the set level. Thermostat resists change, even when the change is improvement.
Average man limit functions like an internal thermostat. It doesn’t ask, “Is this better?” Rather, it asks, “Is this familiar?”
It’s the mental, emotional, and spiritual settings a person has accepted as “normal.” Like the Israelites whose ‘thermostat’ was Egypt, so they longed for Egypt anytime there was any slight pressure. “Let us return to Egypt.” (Num 14:4). Freedom was new, but slavery was familiar. The internal thermostat pulled them back mentally to the familiar.
Average man limits are the natural ceilings set by human reasoning and which chooses logic over faith with statements like, “It has never been done this way,” “That doesn’t make sense,” “I need to see it before I believe it,” or “This is not practical.” They believe that, if it can’t be explained naturally, it can’t be attempted (2 Cor 5:7). It’s like the ten spies who thought it didn’t make sense to fight against the giants in the land, even with God on their side. They said, “We are not able…” (Num 13:31).
Limits are also set by fear and comfort. “I don’t want to lose what I already have,” “I’m comfortable where I am,” “This is safer,” or “What if it doesn’t work?” They reject even leadership responsibility because responsibility will stretch them. Their average comfort overrides their great potential. Some avoid deeper commitment because it disrupts their routine. And since growth feels uncomfortable, the thermostat simply restores familiarity. They believe that growth costs too much (Amos 6:1; Heb 11:8). When growth requires new thinking, the mind resists. So, the thermostat says, “Return to what you know.”
Friends, every average man limits in your life started as a sentence or a thought you accepted as normal. Until God resets your thermostat and your capacity increases, He won’t release the increase.

Prayer points
1. I reject every limit set by human reasoning or fear and comfort in my life; and I break their resistance, in Jesus’ name.
2. Father, renew my mind by Your Word and reset my spiritual and mental thermostat; let my capacity be enlarged by faith and obedience, in Jesus’ name.

Today’s declarations
1. My life is not limited by human logic but governed by divine truth. What God has spoken over me is higher than what makes sense.
2. Fear will not set my boundaries. Whatever God says I can do, I can do. Comfort will not rob me of my calling, for I am willing to be stretched.
