COME WITH A DESIRE

COME WITH A DESIRE

Text: John 5:1-6
Memory verse:
“But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of the bread and drink of the cup.”
‭‭I Corinthians‬ ‭11‬:‭28‬

As great as the communion of the body and the blood of Christ are, some still lose out on the benefits of partaking, due to lack of desire, or lack of knowledge. When a person does not know the value of a thing, he or she will surely not desire it. At the early stage of our ministry, we had the communion once a month but with more revelation of its incredible value, we made it weekly and sometimes, daily. The testimonies have since been awesome.
In our text for today, one may wonder if Jesus’ question to the infirm man was really necessary. “..Do you want to be made well?”” ‭‭(John‬ ‭5‬:‭6‬).
Strangely, some who partake of the communion don’t really want to be healed. People who enjoy pity, sympathy and attention they receive while being sick are not really ready to give up that sickness. Such an attitude can not draw the healing virtue in the communion. Likewise, those who enjoy medical benefits from their organizations or NHIS may not want to lose them and so, may not have as such the strong desire to be healed. Thus, they go to the hospital to make false presentation of their health condition in order to collect free medications just because they consider it to be their right. Some also do it to receive medical benefits through pensions or legal settlements, while others use their sickness as an excuse to evade work and to manipulate others, including their bosses, spouses, parents etc. As I often say, God has no business taking away what you are not tired of or what you enjoy! (Gen 27:40). Yet, some are weary of life or their condition and have great desires to depart and to be with the Lord.
Friends, honestly examine yourself and deal with these excuses. As you sincerely desire a change of level and as you discern the Lord’s body, your health will experience a dramatic leap this year in Jesus name.
