DECISION DETERMINES DESTINY (2)

DECISION DETERMINES DESTINY (2)

Text: Genesis 13:10-17
Memory verse:
“Then Lot chose for himself all the plain of Jordan, and Lot journeyed east. And they separated from each other.”
‭‭Genesis‬ ‭13‬:‭11‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

The world is full of people who overcame life’s limitations to fulfill colourful destinies through their decisions. The decision which you make today will shape your destiny tomorrow. Decisions about your studies, friendship, spendings, family, diets, job – all have consequences.
Though, all decisions have consequences, but some have far greater consequences. The greatest decision is that which has eternal consequence. In our text today, Lot’s decision to pitch his tent with the wicked, costed him much. He lost all he had, lost his entire family and he himself just escaped by God’s mercy! “For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?” ‭‭(Mark‬ ‭8‬:‭36‬-‭37‬).
Abram’s decision purchased for him both earthly and eternal inheritances. Abram represents the spiritually minded believer while Lot, the carnally minded. Lot’s choice was motivated by financial gain rather than pleasing God. There will be consequences for your decision, whether you choose to follow, love, obey and serve God or you choose to follow and love the world. Even if you haven’t chosen to do anything, that in itself is a decision.
Sometimes, I wonder why some parents lament about the evil and unruly acts of their children, when their own daily decisions are carnally motivated! Their friends are Sodomites and they dress and talk like them. They prefer to be at the city gate to gist than to be in a prayer meeting and to choose social gatherings than bible study meetings! They watch Sodom movies and sing Sodom songs! They have stakes in the world but not in the church! They use Sodom tactics for business and expose their children to Sodom tactics of passing examinations. Can you pitch your tent and live in Sodom and expect to have children of Canaan? Can you sow to the flesh and reap it in the spirit? (Gal 6:8: Rom 8:6)
Friends, choosing to follow, love, obey and serve God is the greatest decision you can ever make here on earth.

Prayer points
1. Father, let me never make decisions that will endanger my eternity and that of my family in Jesus name.
2. Father, please, deliver me from carnality and help me to be spiritually minded in all my decisions in Jesus name.

Today’s declarations
1.To be spiritually minded will help me to make decisions that will
secure my eternal inheritance and that of my family.
2. By my decisions, I can break through all limitations to fulfill a colourful destiny.
