Text: Hebrews 11:24-26
Memory verse:
“I call heaven and earth as witnesses today against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live;” Deuteronomy 30:19
Many times we blame our backgrounds, families, governments, environment and everything except ourselves, for our destiny. No, life is the product of your day to day choices and decisions. Adam and Eve had a perfect environment and excellent conditions, yet they made a decision that brought them down to shame, poverty, curse, sickness, chaos and the likes. It is not your condition or circumstance that determines your destiny but your choices and decisions.
One of the greatest blessings of God to the human race is the free will. It’s our power to make choices and take decisions about our lives and our future; about what we think is good or best for us. Life is a series of choices.
The most powerful way to shape your life is to take action but your action is propelled by a decision. Life is stagnant without action. If the four lepers and the prodigal son didn’t take action, they would have starved to death (2 Kgs 7:4; Luke 15:20). The difference in the results of two people is what they have done differently from others. This is simply because different actions produce different results. Every action moves you to certain direction and your direction determines your destination, which is called destiny. So, everything that happens in your life begins with your decisions. Where you are now is the result of the decision you took in the past. It’s actually the moment of decision that one’s destiny is formed.
Moses made a choice to endure affliction with his brethren than to enjoy the royal privileges of Egypt (Heb 11:24); Joshua, as a father and a leader, decided for himself and his family, to stand with God and serve Him rather than the gods of the other nations ( Josh 24:15); Daniel and his brethren decided they wouldn’t defile themselves with the king’s junk and unclean delicacies (Dan 1:8).
Friends, are your day to day choices leading you to your God-given destiny or pulling you apart from it?
