Many strange behaviours have other underlying causes than meet the ordinary eyes. For instance, how can you explain why loving and compassionate children suddenly turn against their parents or why a chaste young lady suddenly becomes sexually loose and turn deaf ears to all warnings?
One known underlying cause of such strange behaviours is enchantment. Enchantment is manipulating and controlling an individual by casting a spell or a jinx, laying a curse, or using charm. It is a demonic weapon that is often used by the enemy to afflict or destroy its victims. The effects of enchantment include stagnation, sickness, disobedience of children, drunkenness, drug addiction, marital unfaithfulness, sexual immorality, depression, sudden loss of spiritual fervency and so forth.
Enchantment is common in witchcraft, sorcery, magic, and divination. In our text today, Simon had used the power of enchantment to manipulate and control the people of Samaria for a long time. However, the power of the gospel through Philip’s preaching destroyed the controlling power of his enchantment, causing their eyes to be opened. I remember a similar testimony that occurred after preaching in a wedding service many years ago. A man, who had refused to eat the food prepared by his wife for about thirteen years, suddenly walked up to meet his wife during the wedding service, asking her to return home quickly after church to get his dinner ready! The spell that had blinded him for so long was destroyed after hearing the sermon!
The gospel is still the way out of enchantment. It is the power of God for salvation (Rom 1:16). When the undiluted word of God is preached, anointing is released to break every yoke. That’s why you must not always miss or trivialize any gospel or church meetings, as you may just be missing your destiny encounter! Eighteen years infirmity was also terminated while Jesus was teaching in the synagogue (Luke 13:10-13). In the presence of the Lord, there is deliverance and recovery. “But on Mount Zion, there shall be deliverance, And there shall be holiness; The house of Jacob shall possess their possessions.“ (Obad‬ ‭1‬:‭17‬). The controlling power of enchantment is also destroyed when believers engage it through faith and violent prayers (Matt 11:12).
Friends, don’t be silent. Don’t accept any negativity as normal. Destroy the enchantment over your life and your loved ones today.

2. I repent of sin, and I close every open door of demonic interference in my life now, in Jesus’ name.
