DEVELOPING PEACEFUL HABIT

DEVELOPING PEACEFUL HABIT

Text: Proverbs 20:3
Memory text:
“It is honorable for a man to stop striving, Since any fool can start a quarrel.”
‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭20‬:‭3‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Let’s review some of the lessons we have learnt on this very important topic of anger.
“It’s a mark of good character to avert quarrels, but fools love to pick fights.” (Prov‬ ‭20‬:‭3‬ ‭MSG‬‬)
Meditate on these nuggets.
1. Anger can be avoided or can be deflected after it has started.
2. Anger is like an explosive reaction, and it can go farther and have more destructive effects than you have imagined.
3. Anger is one letter short of danger, and danger is the right-hand man of anger.
4. Anger is inherent in our sinful nature or acquired from our environment.
5. It is better to live on the rooftop or in the wilderness than to live with a contentious person.
6. A wrathful person stirs up strife, and a man who is slow to wrath stops it.
7. Listening is golden, prevents misunderstanding, and eventually it turns away anger.
8. Listening is a mark of courtesy, and it proves that you value, respect, love, and appreciate someone.
9. You don’t listen and talk at the same time.
10. Focusing and concentrating on the person speaking is a good listening habit, but browsing your phone or engaging in side talks divides your attention.
11. Many things divide our attention today, therefore listening must be intentional.
12. Interrupting while someone is speaking is being hasty in speaking and disrespectful.
13. Listening involves concentrating and not forming your own opinion while someone is still speaking.
14. There is more hope for a fool than for a man who is hasty with his words.
15. Pausing intermittently while speaking helps you to consider your words and to avoid stirring up anger.

Friends, let’s practice righteousness and build good habits. You can deal with angry habits and live in peace.

Prayer points
1. Father, I renounce every bad listening habit, and I receive grace to be a good listener, in Jesus’ name.
2. Father, I reject anger, and I refuse to allow it to ruin my beautiful destiny in Jesus’ name.

Today’s declarations
1. Good habits don’t just come, but they are achieved by intentional, determined, and consistent practice.
2. I believe that, by the grace of God, I can do all that God expects of me.
