DON’T LET MEMORY STOP YOU (8)

DON’T LET MEMORY STOP YOU (8)

Text: John 9:1-3
Memory verse:
“And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.”
‭‭II Corinthians‬ ‭12‬:‭9‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Nick Vujicic grew up remembering
being born without arms and legs. He wondered why God allowed his condition. However, instead of running from God, Nick brought his questions to Him. For years, Nick, held on to the painful memory of being different and, asked why.
However, the turning point came at age 15. While struggling with despair, Nick was inspired by the story of the man born blind, according to our text. When asked why, Jesus explained, “so that the works of God might be revealed in him” (John 9:3). Thereafter, Nick began to believe that God had a purpose for his life despite his condition. So he stopped focusing on the memories of what he lacked, that is, arms and legs and focused on God’s promise (Jer 1:5; Psa 139:14). He saw that God did not make a mistake and that his value was not in physical ability but in identity in Christ. His memory stopped saying, “I am lacking”, “I am disabled”, “I am a genetic accident” and “I am useless”. Instead, it began to say, “I am purposefully created”, “I am fearfully and wonderfully made”, “I have a purpose”.
Likewise, irrespective of what you have or you don’t have, you are intentionally designed, crafted by God, created on purpose for purpose, divinely authored and handmade by God. You are God’s idea, heaven-approved, designed with meaning, formed in wisdom, God-planned and God’s workmanship.
So, Nick found peace when he chose the option of being thankful for his condition, instead of being angry at God. He added ‘GO’ to ‘disable’, changing it to “God is able”. This mantra helped him move from suicidal thoughts to believing that God could use him, a “broken piece,” to reach others. He is a living testimony of God’s strength in weakness and that God’s power does not depend on human completeness (2 Cor 12:9; 2 Chr 14:11). The old memory was a contradiction of God’s calling but the healed memory was its confirmation.
His memory produced compassion, not self-pity. He spoke to the broken and connected with the hopeless. While his old memory said, “Why did this happen to me?”, the redeemed memory said, “How can God use this to reach others?” (2 Cor 1:3-4).
Friends, God does not heal all pain by removal; sometimes, He heals by redefinition. When you submit to God, what looks like evidence against God in your life will become evidence of God. Hallelujah!

Prayer points
1. Father, I surrender my inadequacies, and I receive Your sufficient grace; turn my weakness into a platform for Your strength, in Jesus’ name.
2. Father, show me how my life can bless others despite my challenges and use my story to bring hope to the broken and discouraged, in Jesus’ name.

Today’s declarations
1. I am not accidental, flawed, defective or an error, but chosen before formed, created with value and made for God’s purpose.
2. My story will inspire faith, not pity; my life is evidence of God’s power, not my weakness.
