Text: 1 Corinthians 3:16-17
“Who satisfies your mouth with good things, So that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.”
Psalms 103:5 NKJV
The law of sowing and reaping does not only apply to farming or financial matters but to all areas of man’s endeavours. “Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap.” (Gal 6:7). Just as you sow to the spirit by feeding on the word of God and praying; sow to the mind by studying and acquiring knowledge; you can also sow to the body through what you eat and drink and what you do with your body.
The scriptures warned that the believer’s body houses the Spirit and must be protected. “God will destroy anyone who destroys this temple. For God’s temple is holy, and you are that temple.”
(1 Cor 3:17 NLT). The body is not only destroyed by sexual sins, like some interpret it, but by loading it with harmful and unhealthy foods; and by overusing it. God satisfies your mouth with good things, not junks, so that your youth may be renewed (Psa 103:5). After forgiving, healing, delivering and crowning with mercy and love, God sustained the new life by satisfying with good things. Healing can’t be sustained if it is followed up with bad foods. Good foods make you youthful and strong but bad foods age you quickly and make you feeble.
Ignorance of believers in this area gives advantage to the devil to attack and to afflict. A nineteenth-century preacher Robert Murray McCheyne neglected the care of his body while he worked so hard on preaching. Eventually, he died at twenty nine years. Just before dying and having realized his ignorance, he wrote, “God gave me a message to deliver and a horse to ride. Alas, I have killed the horse and now I cannot deliver the message.” Prayer, service or anointing won’t exempt anyone from the effects of violating spiritual laws. When Epaphroditus overworked his body, he went down with sickness (Phi 2:25-27).
There is no way you will continue to violate this spiritual law, feeding on junks and misusing your body, that you won’t reap disease and sickness. You are what you eat. Eat wisely from now
1. Father, I receive your wisdom and discipline to eat wisely from now in Jesus name
2. Father, please, show me mercy and heal me of the sickness that my ignorance has caused me in Jesus name
1. I maintain my healing through feeding on good word and good food
2. I don’t destroy my body, God’s temple, by feeding on junks or overusing my body
