Text: Matthew 13:31-32
Memory verse:
“And truly if they had called to mind that country from which they had come out, they would have had opportunity to return.”
Hebrews 11:15
There is an ancient English adage that says, “Nothing ventured, nothing gained”. That is, if you don’t engage in a new experience, you won’t get a new perspective. Most people want the new experience but only few want to venture into it, because of the fear of the unknown. That fear causes you to find excuses instead of finding a way.
In our text for today, even though the children of Israel knew that it was God’s perfect timing, yet they were not ready to endure the discomfort that was needed to experience their long awaited freedom.“They said to Moses and Aaron, “The Lord has seen what you have done and will punish you for making the king and his officers hate us. You have given them an excuse to kill us.” (Exo 5:21 GNT). Even after Moses reported back to God and He sent back a reassuring message to them, they still didn’t heed him (Exo 6:9). No one ever made exploits in life or moved to the next level who didn’t get out of the comfort zone to embrace discomfort. You must get extremely uncomfortable and dissatisfied with your status quo to break into a new ground. Embrace discomfort and don’t excuse it. As desirable as comfort is, no worthwhile growth begins there but at its edge. You may say, “Is it not risky to venture into uncertainty?”.Yes, you are right but the worst risk you can take in life is not to take a risk at all. Every God-inspired move has a multi-insurance policy.Jesus is the guarantor (Heb 6:19; 7:22). May the Lord show you the discomfort you need to embrace to move to a new experience in all aspects of your life this year in Jesus name.
Prayer points
1. Father, reveal to me the discomfort necessary for my next level and help me to embrace it in Jesus name.
2. Father, I receive Your grace and courage to break the inertia in Jesus name.
Today’s declarations
1. I do not excuse my discomfort but I embrace it.
2. I take risk because I have Jesus, as my multi-insurance policy cover.
