Text: Exodus 4:10-13
Memory verse:
“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”
Philippians 4:13
A Brazilian little town was made famous by a young man who lost both his arms after being struck by leprosy. Rather than making excuses for his disability and becoming a liability, with a dogged spirit, he trained himself to carve and sculpt wood with his feet and parts of his arms that he had not lost to leprosy!
In our text today, Moses’ excuse for rejecting God’s call to be His spokesperson before Pharaoh was that he couldn’t speak well. “Moses raised another objection to God: “Master, please, I don’t talk well. I’ve never been good with words, neither before nor after you spoke to me. I stutter and stammer.” (Exo 4:10 MSG). Earlier, his excuse was of not having the ability and talent for the assignment (Exo 3:11).
There are always thousands of excuses that anyone can easily make for his/her failure, idleness or poor performance e.g natural deficiency, disability, time factor, environmental conditions, family background, economic policy, etc. Whether in your walk with God, your marriage, finances, career, academics or health, the way to get results is to begin to close the door to your excuses and then take responsibility, like apostle Paul. “… I have learned the secret of living in every situation, whether it is with a full stomach or empty, with plenty or little.” (Phil 4:12 NLT). Winners deliver results but failures deliver excuses. No reason is ever excusable before God because He wouldn’t expect from you what He hasn’t given you the capability or grace to do (1 Cor 12:9).
Friends, don’t allow any excuse to stop you from entering your promised next level this year. Confront them today.
Prayer points
1. Father, I receive the needed grace and willingness to confront every excuse to my next level in Jesus name.
2. Father, help me to deliver enviable results this year and not excuses in Jesus name.
Today’s declarations
1. I have the mindset of possibility and not the mindset of excuses.
2. Winners deliver results but losers deliver excuses; I am a winner because I challenge my excuses and deliver results.
