FEARS AND EXCUSES

FEARS AND EXCUSES

Text: Numbers 13:27-30
Memory verse:
“Judah is a lion’s whelp; From the prey, my son, you have gone up. He bows down, he lies down as a lion; And as a lion, who shall rouse him?” Genesis‬ ‭49‬:‭9‬

Excuses are products of fears. Consider these fears. “Don’t ride in an automobile – they cause 20 percent of all accidents. Don’t travel by air, rail or water – 16 percent of all accidents result from these activities. Don’t walk on the street – 15 percent of all accidents occur there. Don’t stay at home – 17 percent of all accidents happen there”. You may ask, “What else can I do?” Confront the fear!
In our text for today, the ten spies excused themselves from entering the promised land, their next level, because of fear. “Nevertheless the people who dwell in the land are strong; the cities are fortified and very large; moreover we saw the descendants of Anak there.”
‭‭(Num‬ ‭13‬:‭28‬). Your excuses are just the lies your fears have sold to you. They doubted the ability of God who brought them out of Egypt, through the Red Sea and to the wilderness and Who has given them the land even before they occupied it! Even though, staying in the wilderness was a risk, they challenged the excuses for being there but not for entering the promised land. They saw the obstacle which God hadn’t put there. “..and we were like grasshoppers in our own sight, and so we were in their sight.” ‭‭(Num‬ ‭13‬:‭33‬). Excuses are just self-imposed barriers. “The lazy man is full of excuses. “I can’t go to work!” he says. “If I go outside, I might meet a lion in the street and be killed!” (Prov 22:13 TLB)
What is the vision that God has given you? What is that divine assignment before you? What are the goals you have set for this year? Don’t let excuses stop you anymore. As a lion, confront your fears and challenge the excuses today. God is with you! Hallelujah!

Prayer points
1.I bind and cast out every spirit of fear that has hitherto paralyzed my dreams and initiatives in Jesus name.
2. Father, I receive boldness and courage to confront my fears and to challenge my excuses in Jesus name.

Today’s declarations

1.I see excuses as self-imposed obstacles which I have the power to pull down.
2. As a lion, I go forward to get what I want and nothing, not even excuses can stop me.
