FULFILLING YOUR MINISTRY 4

FULFILLING YOUR MINISTRY 4

Text: 2 Corinthians 5:18-21
Memory verse:
”Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation,“
‭‭II Corinthians‬ ‭5‬:‭18‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Though God calls us into various and varying ministries, yet there is a ministry that is for all believers.
All believers are called to represent Him on earth, in bringing others to salvation. According to our memory text, we have been given the ministry, the task or the work of reconciling others to Christ, just as we have been reconciled (‭‭II Cor‬ ‭5‬:‭18‬).
God wants us to be His ambassadors on earth and to communicate His love to everyone. He wants to use us to reach our family members, neighbours and friends. This is our primary duty on earth. This is very important to Him. If you meet all the physical and material needs of people without addressing their salvation needs, then you have laboured in vain. ”For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?“ ‭‭(Mark‬ ‭8‬:‭36‬-‭37‬).
Some people are just interested in friendships and social relationships but are not bothered about the salvation of the people. What is the essence of preaching a beautiful message without teaching people on how to secure their soul in eternity? Today, many pulpits are only used for motivational messages rather than reconciliatory messages. It is nice to be good to people, to be a people-oriented person, and to motivate people but all these are useless if they don’t have the goal of bringing the sinner to God. They are of no value if they don’t turn people from darkness to light. I wonder what a loss it would have been if the goal of my secondary school Geography teacher was just to be a good teacher! Being a student teacher who was just in the school for few months and to return to complete his course, he would have had enough reasons to be focused only on teaching. Instead, he saw himself as an ambassador and used his teaching opportunity to impact the students lives, which led to my salvation.
Friends, whatever is your profession, be it a teacher, a medical practitioner, a lawyer, a business man, customer care officer or even domestic staff, as long as you have opportunities of meeting and relating with people, see yourself as Christ’s ambassador and use the ministry of reconciliation well. This is your primary service to God.

Prayer points
1. Father, please help me to use my ministry of reconciliation well in my job and in all my relationships, in Jesus’ name.
2. Father, let me never relate closely with anyone without making an eternal impact, in Jesus’ name.

Today’s declarations
1. My primary ministry on earth is the ministry of reconciling others to Christ.
2. While I am doing my job well, I am also conscious that I am there as an ambassador of Christ.
