FULFILLING YOUR MINISTRY 7

FULFILLING YOUR MINISTRY 7

Text: Titus 2:3-8
Memory verse:
”Her children rise up and call her blessed; Her husband also, and he praises her:“
‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭31‬:‭28‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

On this Mother’s Day, let’s look at the kind of woman you should not be, if you want to fulfill your motherhood ministry.
1. Absentee mothers. Too many things take their time, so they become too busy until they lose their children to social terrorists and unfriendly friends, like the mother of Tamar (2 Sam 13:14, 28). Even when present, they are unavailable for their families.
2. Worldly mothers. They spend their lives and money on parties, fashions, and all socials. They are easy virtue women and lascivious in their dressing and lifestyle. They are glued to the world like Lot’s wife and lose their children to the world (Gen 19:14, 26, 33). They become lessons instead of blessings (Luke 17:32).
3. Ignorant mothers. They are spiritually naive and indifferent about God’s purpose, like the wife of Eli, who had no influence on her sons or the wife of Job, who attempted to mislead him (Job 2:9-10). They take the back seats on spiritual things (2 Tim 3:6). Like Martha, they want to serve but not ready to sit down to learn (Luk 10:41).
4. Overambitious mothers. They throw away godly values just to achieve their ambitions, like Eve (Gen 3:5-6). They go anywhere, take any job, become friends to anybody and give up anything, resulting in cursed blessings and generational sorrows.
5. Egoistic mothers. They are too proud to submit to their husbands, like Vashti (Est 1:12) and domineering like Jezebel (1 Kg 18:13). They are obstacles to the salvation of their unsaved or spiritually weak husbands. What bad examples for their children!
6. Scornful mothers. They are disrespectful and rude, especially to their husbands, contrary to God’s instructions (Eph 5:33). They compare their husbands with others and behave as if forced into the marriage. They portray extreme dislike, like Michal did to David (1 Sam 6:20).
7. Corrosive mothers. They are hot tempered, quarrelsome and contentious, so the house is always hot. They abuse, criticize and keep malice with their spouses and are never interested in cease fire. Sometimes, their husbands and children avoid them (Prov 21:9; 27:15-16).
Dear mother, may you not lose your peace like the corrosive mother; your glory like Eve; your children like Amnon’s mother; your heritage like Michal; your spouse/marriage/position like Vashti; your generational covenant like Eli’s wife; and your life here and in eternity like Lot’s wife. May you fulfill your ministry as a mother in Jesus’ name.

Prayer points
1. Father, as I thank You for the privilege to be a mother, please forgive me in any way I have failed, in Jesus’ name.
2. Father, please empower me afresh with grace needed to fulfill my motherhood ministry in Jesus’ name.

Today’s declarations
1. My ministry as a mother is to be a godly influence to my husband and children, be it biological, adopted, or spiritual and to the society.
2. Motherhood is not a hobby but a calling and a privilege, so I do it with utmost fear and responsibility.
