FULFILLING YOUR MINISTRY

FULFILLING YOUR MINISTRY

Text: Ephesians 2:8-10
Memory verse:
”And say to Archippus, “Take heed to the ministry which you have received in the Lord, that you may fulfill it.”“
‭‭Colossians‬ ‭4‬:‭17‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Some people think of ministry to mean only a church or someone involved in pulpit work. While that is true, ministry goes beyond that. The Greek word for ‘ministry’ is ‘Diakonia’ which means service or to serve as a slave. The first use of the word ministry in the scriptures is in relation to service. ”the garments of ministry, the holy garments for Aaron the priest and the garments of his sons, to minister as priests,“ ‭‭(Exo‬ ‭31‬:‭10‬).
It refers to the wears of Aaron and all those who serve in the tabernacle.
Ministry is also the pursuit of God’s plan or vision for your life. There is no one that God hasn’t created with a plan. He told Jeremiah, ”“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; Before you were born I sanctified you; I ordained you a prophet to the nations.”“ ‭‭(Jer‬ ‭1‬:‭5‬). It is not restricted to the pulpit. Moses assignment was to lead the Israelites out of Egypt to the promised land. God raised up Esther, a young Jewish girl living in the Persian diaspora and she discovered God’s plan to save the Jewish people from destruction through her ( Est 4:14). Bezalel and Oholiab were not called like Moses but were commissioned specifically to design and beautify the tabernacle (Exo 35:1-7). Aaron and Joshua were called to assist Moses; Elisha was described as a man who poured water in the hands of Elijah (2 Kin 3:11). The Manoahs, Samson’s parents were called to birth and raise Samson to fulfill God’s special plan for his life within a culture where there was high spiritual compromise. Mary was given the assignment to birth Jesus and to raise Him.
God has a specific assignment for every child of God. Many people think that they are just on earth to make a career, make money, build empires and make a name. No, there is a kingdom assignment which God has called you into before you were born but which can only be discovered in Christ. ”For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.“ (‭‭Eph‬ ‭2‬:‭10‬ ‭NLT‬‬).
Friends, the first thing to do to fulfill your God-given ministry is to be created anew, that is, to be born again. The second thing is to discover it. Don’t run another man’s assignment nor waste your life pursuing shadows. Have you been born anew? Have you discovered your ministry?

Prayer points
1. Father, please, reveal to me the specific assignment You have created me for, in Jesus’ name.
2. Father, please help me to stay in the assignment and not to run another man’s ministry, in Jesus’ name.

Today’s declarations
1. I am God’s masterpiece created in Christ Jesus to do the good things he planned for me long ago.
2. My ministry is God’s assignment for me on earth and it is my responsibility to discover it.
