Text: Joshua 10:1-14
Memory verse:
“And He changes the times and the seasons; He removes kings and raises up kings; He gives wisdom to the wise And knowledge to those who have understanding.”
Daniel 2:21 NKJV
One great quality of leadership is organizational skill. God is a great organizer and planner. He established seasons and times from the beginning. Ecclesiastes 3:1-7 shows how He has planned every thing, with specific time for each of them. “To everything there is a season, A time for every purpose under heaven:” (Eccl 3:1).
He has a timetable and does things based on His timing. “God makes everything happen at the right time…” (Ecc 3:11 CEV).
However, according to our memory verse today, even though God has planned everything and scheduled time for them, but sometimes He changes times and seasons to do something special, particularly in the lives of His children. When this happens, we call it a miracle.
According to our text today, five kings of the Amorites pulled forces together to fight against Gibeon because of its submission to Israel. Joshua engaged them in battle, and the Lord discomfited them before him. However, Joshua wanted to gain complete victory over them but discovered that they were running out of time, as the sun was about to set. Thus, Joshua made a strange and unusual but bold request to God. “…and he said in the sight of Israel: “Sun, stand still over Gibeon; And Moon, in the Valley of Aijalon.” (Joshua 10:12).
The account says that it had never happened before or after that God would heed the voice of a man, like He did for Joshua. So the sun wasn’t in haste to set. It didn’t set as on a normal day in order to give Joshua extra daylight to finish the battle.
“…So the sun stood still in the middle of the sky and was in no hurry to go down for about a whole day.” (Josh 10:13 AMP).
God simply slowed down time for Israel to have complete victory over the five kings. What an unusual miracle! God is beyond the limits of space and time.
Friends, does it appear as if you are running out of time maritally, professionally, academically, financially, or age wise? God can slow down time for you. He can slow down time for you so that you can enjoy more precious moments with your loved ones. The sun won’t set on you until you have achieved your set goal. The door won’t be shut until you have entered. The portal won’t be closed until yours have been turned in. Dare to believe God.
Prayer points
1. Father, please, slow down time for me in any area of my life where I am running out of time, in Jesus’ name.
2. Father, I have stayed too long in this season of my life. Please change times and seasons for me, in Jesus’ name.
Today’s declarations
1. I can’t run out of time since my God controls time, and He will slow down time in my favour.
2. God will answer me like never before and do the unusual for me during this season.
