Text: 2 Kings 20:1-11
Memory verse:
“So Isaiah the prophet cried out to the Lord, and He brought the shadow ten degrees backward, by which it had gone down on the sundial of Ahaz.” II Kings 20:11 NKJV
God doesn’t only slow down and accelerate time in your favour but also reverses time.
According to our text, after God had announced the addition of fifteen more years to the life of King Hezekiah, he then asked for a sign. God, therefore, gave him an option to choose between these two – the shadow on the sundial to go forward ten degrees or go backward ten degrees. Hezekiah chose the more difficult option, that is, to make the shadow go back by ten degrees, which meant that, the earth would have to revolve differently to be able to send a shadow in the opposite direction. That meant working against nature! But God did it! He did the impossible and reversed time!
It is often said that opportunity and time lost can not be recovered. Yes, that’s true in the natural but not in the supernatural, for with God, all things are possible. God can reverse time for you when you feel like you’ve wasted or lost valuable years of your life.
“So I will restore to you the years that the swarming locust has eaten, The crawling locust, The consuming locust, And the chewing locust, My great army which I sent among you”
(Joel 2:25).
The different locusts indicate the various ways our years have been stolen. “What the chewing locust left, the swarming locust has eaten; What the swarming locust left, the crawling locust has eaten; And what the crawling locust left, the consuming locust has eaten.” (Joel 1:4).
It describes the condition of having one problem, disappointments, failures, and the likes, coming after another. We’ve all gone through seasons in life which we considered as loss of time, like your poor childhood; the relationship which you invested so much into but didn’t work out; years you spent in addiction and in battling with sickness and so forth. No one can get these back naturally, unless through God. He knows how to make up for your lost time and restore you. He will not only restore you but he will restore the time you spent in that failed relationship, poor childhood, struggling with addiction, fighting sickness, poor choices, running with the wrong crowd, playing and partying instead of reading and so forth. Your later days shall be better than your beginning. God will restore the losses and the times you lost during your trying times.
