Text: Malachi 3:16-18
Memory text:
“Then you shall again discern Between the righteous and the wicked, Between one who serves God And one who does not serve Him.” Malachi 3:18 NKJV
Elephants move in herds led by a matriarch and the younger or weaker elephants who follow and serve the herd’s order, enjoy safety and protection. When predators threaten, the herd forms a circle around the calves, shielding them. Serving the herd automatically guarantees their protection. Nature teaches that a lone creature may fall easily, but one who serves the greater order is protected and defended by its power.
According to our text, God also shows mercy and gives special treatment to all those who serve Him faithfully, even exempting them from the calamities of life. “…And I will spare them As a man spares his own son who serves him.” (Mal 3:17). The MSG Bible says, “…They’ll get special treatment when I go into action. I treat them with the same consideration and kindness that parents give the child who honors them.” ‘Wow! I like that! They’ll get special treatment! What an exemption? To ‘spare’ also means, ‘to exempt or free’. God will exempt in the day of trouble, those who serve and honour Him.
God also says, ““So you shall serve the Lord your God, and He will bless your bread and your water. And I will take sickness away from the midst of you.” (Exod 23:25). Faithful service to God gives you comprehensive insurance, including protection from lack, protection from sickness, and protection of family. When you serve God, He services your life and your dwelling. Service provokes divine provision, health, and exemption.
Even in the work of life, when you serve a vision greater than yourself, you are also woven into its protective system. For example, one will protect a loyal employee who serves the organization with commitment during layoffs? Their service makes them valuable, and the organization shields them from what others face. They are retained and protected in crisis.
Likewise, a faithful and serving soldier doesn’t provide his own food or defense, rather, the army equips and protects him (Luke 22:35).
Friends, when you serve God, He becomes the caretaker of your life and home. When you serve God faithfully, you stop standing alone. Rather, you align yourself with something bigger, and the ‘Greater One’ takes responsibility for your safety, success, and future. Are you standing alone, or are you serving Him? Are you serving faithfully?
Prayer points
1. My Father, please, let me never stand alone in Your house but help me to serve You and to serve faithfully. Spare my life as I serve You, in Jesus’ name.
2. My Father, as I serve You, please be the caretaker of my life and exempt me and my house from every form of lack, sickness, and disease, in Jesus’ name.
Today’s declarations
1. As I serve God faithfully, He takes responsibility to protect, preserve, and exempt me from all evils. I don’t stand alone; God is the caretaker of my life and my home.
2. As a father spares His son, who serves Him, I am convinced that He will exempt me from the evil of the ember months and even after.
