Text: Genesis 12:14-20
Memory text:
āLet the wicked fall into their own nets, While I escape safely.ā

The world was left in shock recently when the Israel Defense Force broke through Iran air defense and national security to kill the political leader of an enemy group in his room in the guest house where he lodged. The killing was so selective that only the room where he stayed was affected, yet the army wasnāt there physically!
Our God doesnāt need to be physically present before He arrests your enemies or before He delivers you. You see, if humans can achieve this kind of exploit, God will do much more. God says, āāI am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End,ā says the Lord, āWho is and Who was and Who is to come, the Almighty.āā (āāRevā¬ ā1ā¬:ā8ā¬). This means that He is beyond the limits of space and time. In other words, distance or walls canāt hinder Him. No one can probe the limits of the Almighty! In appreciation of this attribute, worshippers in āYorubaā language coined a title, describing Him as, āThe God who doesnāt need to pursue before He arrests anyoneā.
I once heard the story of a man who was miraculously delivered from the kidnappers’ cell. Before his deliverance, an argument suddenly ensued between the diehard kidnappers that became so hot and prolonged until they completely turned their attention away from the man. They were so engulfed in their argument that they didnāt know when the man escaped.
Our God rules in the army of heaven and of the earth. He is sovereign. He controls all living and non-living things. He rules in the heart of all flesh, whether of man, animals, or any organism (Jer 32:27). He controls the hearts of kings and turns them as He wills. That was what He did to the kidnappers. He did the same to the people of Babel, who united in their determination and goal to build a tower to reach heaven. He just confused their tongues and halted the project forever.
In our text today, God used lower organisms, like bacteria, viruses, and fungi, to force Abimelech to release Sarah, whom he had taken into captivity. āBut because the king had taken Sarai, the LORD sent terrible diseases on him and on the people of his palaceā (Gen 12:17 GNT). Only Sarah was not afflicted in the palace! Selective deliverance, indeed!
Friends, when you pray for deliverance, God can achieve it in any way. Someone reading this devotional, the Almighty God says, āI will deliver you in a way you have never thought of.ā Amen!
