Text: 2 Kings 5:15-27
Memory verse:
The blessing of the LORD makes one rich, and He adds no sorrow with it.â Proverbs 10:22. NKJV
It was a rainy day, and as soon as the driver stopped by the traffic light, a traffic jam hawker walked to the driver’s side, attempting to change the wipers. While he was still trying to move to the other side, the driver suddenly moved his car forward. Thinking the driver didnât see the hawker, I raised my voice to alert him. He then told me that he did it deliberately and that if he didnât do like that, the hawker would have removed the wiper and insisted that he should pay and to even pay a ridiculous price. He further explained that, if one keeps arguing with him, others will join him and vandalize one’s car or attack the person. He said, “No matter your argument, as long as you have allowed him to change the wiper, you will pay heavily for it.” He added that the police canât even handle them.
Likewise, as long as you have benefited from the devilâs wisdom and evil strategy, you will pay at his own terms and not at your own. The word of God also confirms this. âIf you follow your selfish desires, you will harvest destruction, but if you follow the Spirit, you will harvest eternal lifeâ (Gal 6:8 CEV).
As discussed in the past edition, one may not necessarily enter a covenant directly with the devil but as long as you choose to turn your back on Godâs ways to follow the devilâs ways to achieve your goal, you are a debtor to the devil. Will you use his service and not pay for it? You use satanâs method when you slander others to rise up; when you defraud, cheat or steal to get your wealth; when you lie or bore false witness to gain what you own; when you enter a relationship or marriage through deception and so forth.
Satanâs gifts come with something that overrides the joy of the blessings. It is cursed blessings. It adds sorrow, pains, sicknesses, fear, misery, premature death, and so forth. In the real sense, you will eventually discover that the devil does not actually add anything good to your life but only comes to steal, kill, and destroy.
Unlike the blessings that the devil gives, Godâs blessings are truly good, and they come whole and perfect.
âEvery good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lightsâŠâ (Jam 1:17). They are free from any unpleasant compliments, no sorrows, pains, or regrets. The CEV says, âWhen the LORD blesses you with riches, you have nothing to regret.â
Friends, may you not receive the blessing of Gehazi and end like him, in Jesusâ name.
Prayer points
1. Father, please, let not financial storms drive me into cutting corners, or to compromise my faith, in Jesusâ name.
2. Let every sorrow attached to my God-given blessings be removed now, in Jesusâ name.
Todayâs declarations
1. God’s gifts are truly good, perfect, and have no negative compliments.
2. The blessings that come from the devil are cursed blessings.
