GOOD OR BAD ATTITUDES

GOOD OR BAD ATTITUDES

Text: 3 John 1:9-12
Memory verse:
”Therefore by their fruits you will know them.“
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭7‬:‭20‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Do you know that just as a team can win with great athletes, it can also lose with them? That is, good athletes alone do not guarantee the success of a team. Attitude is the factor here. Great athletes with bad attitudes will produce a loser team.
Apostle John described the bad and the good attributes as seen among some brethren. Diotrephes is proud, always wanting to be in charge and malicious. He is unfriendly, not hospitable, not welcoming; he is inconsiderate, and he is a wrong influence. His bad attitudes impacted the church negatively.
In contrast, the great attitude of Demetrius is evident in the report given by the brethren about him and his message. John also has a personal testimony about him. John warned that we should not imitate people with bad attitudes but good people. Their bad attitudes have the tendency to spread faster than good attitude if left alone.
”Do not be fooled. “Bad companions ruin good character.”“ (‭‭1 Cor‬ ‭15‬:‭33‬ ‭GNT‬‬). Rotten attitudes ruin a team, a life, a family, a church, an organization, and everything. I have seen highly talented people become unsuccessful because of bad attitudes. I have seen many failed marriages and maritally frustrated young people, all because of their bad attitudes. Bad attitudes turned enviable destinies to disdained ones. Whether it be pride, impatience, bitterness, anger, strife, lack of self-control, laziness, or selfishness, any bad attitude has the tendency to crash a glorious destiny.
Attitude is the forerunner of your true selves, which is never satisfied until it is exposed. It is an outward look based on past experiences, though its roots are inward and its fruits outward. Attitude is more honest and more consistent than your actions. It’s the librarian of your past, the speaker of your present, and the prophet of your future. Attitude can be your best friend, a thing which draws people to you or as your worst enemy, a thing which draws people away from you.
Friends, pay attention to your attitude today, as it will determine your tomorrow. It’s like a flat tyre, you won’t go far in life if you don’t change it.

Prayer points
1. Father, please, let me pay attention to my attitude lest my destiny be truncated by faulty attitudes, in Jesus’ name.
2. Father, please, open my eyes to any bad attitudes in me that I am not aware of and help me to change it in Jesus’ name.

Today’s declarations
1. I won’t be offended when any bad attitude in me is noticed by others, but I will see it as a call to urgently address it.
2. Bad attitudes draw people away from me, and good attitudes draw people to me.
