Text: Luke 15:11-32
Memory text:
““And he arose and came to his father. But when he was still a great way off, his father saw him and had compassion, and ran and fell on his neck and kissed him.”
Luke 15:20 NKJV
Aside from being the place of revelation, the higher ground is also the place of resurrection.
God expects you to do something with the revelation that you have received, otherwise it will make no difference in your life. There is so much life at that higher ground such that the spirit of death cannot continue to hold its captive down.
According to our text, this wasteful son, who is often called the prodigal son, ‘came to himself’. He got a revelation of what brought him to that abject poverty. He had gotten to a hopeless condition and he was regarded as good as dead. His father said, “for this son of mine was [as good as] dead and is alive again; he was lost and has been found.’ So they began to celebrate”. (Luke 15:24 AMP).
He didn’t keep the revelation in the archives or in his sermon note. He didn’t print it out as a certificate to be framed and hung on the wall or to be celebrated but to be acted on. He said, “I will get up and go to my father and say, “Father, I have sinned against God and against you.” (Luke 15:18 GNT). He was saying, ‘I will get up and go up’. That was exactly what he did, which made the dead man come alive!
What about Abimelech? God declared him ‘a dead man’ because he took Sarah, Abraham’s wife, even though he did it in his innocence (Gen 20:3-5). His household was also plagued immediately. Some are being afflicted today having innocently brought in a stranger, stolen goods or a cursed item into their home; or having ignorantly entered into a business or marital partnership with one whom God has rejected( 2 Kgs 3:6; 2 Chro 18:1). Some are dying for their wrong eating habits and lifestyles or for sharing in the sins of others and all out of ignorance! However, when Abimelech acted on the revelation he had, he was brought back to life, and his household was restored.
No hopeless situation is beyond the power of God. You only need to do something with the revelation you have received from Him. Many years ago, I was as good as dead in my health until I received a revelation of what I needed to stop doing and when I acted on it, God gave my health a 180 degree turnaround!
Friends, what will you do with the revelation that God is giving you now? May you not be a waster of the revelation for your turnaround in Jesus’ name.
Prayer points
1. Father, I receive grace to act on the revelation I receive from You, and I refuse to be a waster, in Jesus’ name.
2. Father, touch me with Your power of resurrection and bring every dead thing back to life, in Jesus’ name.
Today’s declarations
1. At the higher ground, God gives me revelation about my innocent actions behind my troubles.
2. I don’t archive the revelation I receive or leave them in my sermon notes, but I act upon
