HOUSE OF PRAYER 3

HOUSE OF PRAYER 3

Text: Deuteronomy 25:17-18
Memory text:
“pray without ceasing,”
‭‭I Thessalonians‬ ‭5‬:‭17‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

You often hear some believers say, “I am not coming to church today. It’s only a prayer meeting!” What an ignorance! If the church is not the house of prayer, then it is the house of entertainment!
Even though the ministry of prayer is open to all, only a few are involved. Though it is the highest ministry, yet it is the most despised ministry in the church. It is the least desired and least chosen of all ministries. Though despised, yet it is the pillar and the door of the Spirit to all other ministries. Without that pillar, a ministry is not sustained. Without the door of the Spirit opened, the flesh and the devil will reign. When we fail in prayer, we fail in all!
Our Lord warned on the danger of sleeping when we should be praying. ‭‭(Matt‬ ‭13‬:‭25‬). Prayer will keep the devil at bay and will also give us victory in temptation.
The church is called the house of prayer because God has not called us to go on prayer leave or to take the leave of absence from the house of prayer. Rather, He has called us to pray always, at all seasons, for all things, about all things and in all circumstances, whether good or bad. We are to pray before a victory, for victory and after a victory. Unfortunately, many ignorant believers go to rest after a great prayer experience! They begin to tolerate the excuses for not attending a prayer meeting that they earlier challenged. No ministry in the church receives so much excuses like the prayer ministry.
The devil knows that we are most vulnerable, being tired and unguarded after a wonderful spiritual experience. The Amalekites attacked the Israelites at their last stop before Mount Sinai, after their deliverance from Egypt and after crossing the Red Sea. “how he met you on the way and attacked your rear ranks, all the stragglers at your rear, when you were tired and weary; and he did not fear God.” ‭‭(Deut‬ ‭25‬:‭18‬).
Did he not also tempt Jesus after His 40 days of wonderful spiritual experience of fasting when He was hungry? (Luke 4:2-3).
Friends, don’t be found wanting in your prayer closet and in prayer meetings. Don’t grow weary after a victory! Don’t throw away your guard after your recent and wonderful spiritual experience! Don’t tolerate now the excuses you challenged before! Don’t go on leave from prayer after a moving prayer experience. Return to the house of prayer today.

Prayer points
1. Father, strengthen me in the place of prayer and let me never draw back from the house of prayer, in Jesus’ name.
2. Father, I receive grace to challenge any excuse to keep me away from the house of prayer, in Jesus’ name.

Today’s declarations
1. I will not go on leave nor take the leave of absence from the house of prayer, lest the enemy takes advantage of me.
2. I am most vulnerable after a victory or after being tired from a great spiritual exercise, so I return quickly to the house of prayer.
