HOW SHALL THEY KNOW?

HOW SHALL THEY KNOW?

Text: 2 Kings 7:10-16
Memory verse:
“How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher?”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭10‬:‭14‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

A 67-year old, homeless man in Bolivia fled from the police who were bringing him news of a $6 million inheritance from his ex-wife, whom he separated from for about forty years. He thought that the police were about to arrest him for his alcohol and drug habits. Having disappeared, Bolivian newspapers described him as a “new millionaire paradoxically not knowing his fortune”!
Today, like this “homeless millionaire”, multitudes are ignorant of Christ’s provision, while some are fleeing from the messengers of the good news of that provision. Jesus, wept over Jerusalem and said, “It is too bad that today your people don’t know what will bring them peace! Now, it is hidden from them.” (Luke 19:42 CEV). Ignorance puts people in captivity and wastes destinies.
In our text today, you will notice the ignorance of the people of Samaria. They were free but didn’t know! They lived in the fear of what was no longer existing. They were starving and dying when abundant provisions had been made for them! They didn’t know because nobody told them.
I love how the CEV puts our memory text. “How can people have faith in the Lord and ask him to save them if they have never heard about him? And how can they hear, unless someone tells them?” If the lepers didn’t go to tell them, the people of Samaria would have perished. If the police didn’t find the fleeing homeless man, he would eventually die in poverty despite his huge fortune.
When the lepers decided to share the good news with the city gatekeepers, the process for the deliverance of Samaria began. The gatekeepers, in turn, shared the news with the king, and it continued until it became a reality. When four men refused to be selfish and silent, a multitude was saved. When the maid of Naaman’s wife refused to be silent, the General was healed of his leprosy (2 Kings 5:3, 14). When Andrew refused to be silent, his brother, Peter, came to know Jesus (John 1:41-42). When the woman at the well shared her testimony, many in the city believed Jesus (John 4:39).
Friends, remember that you are not responsible for the result when you share your faith. God is waiting for your simple obedience. Tell them that Jesus has paid for their freedom and that the siege is over. Go after them to tell them of the riches awaiting them in Christ. Your job is to share the good news, God does the saving!

Prayer points
1. Father, let me not be disobedient to Your command to share the good news in Jesus’ name.
2. Father, please, use me to bring hope to the hopeless and light to those in darkness, in Jesus’ name.

Today’s declarations
1. It is in God’s power to convert a soul, but it is mine to share the good news of Christ’s salvation and to press for it.
2. I don’t wait for sinners to come to me, but I go out seeking for them just like Jesus sought after me.
