IN A DEAD END? 2

Text: Exodus 13:17-22
Memory text:
“Then the Egyptians shall know that I am the Lord, when I have gained honour for Myself over Pharaoh, his chariots, and his horsemen.””
‭‭Exodus‬ ‭14‬:‭18‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Why would a loving Father lead His children into a trap? The ways of God are never the ways of man. He uses foolish things to confound the wisdom of the wise. God led Israel to the Red Sea with good intentions.
Firstly, He wanted to take the glory. When God places you in an impossible situation, it’s because He wants to reveal His glory (Exo 14:4). He wants people, including your adversaries, to acknowledge Him as God in your life. “The Egyptians will know that I am the LORD.” (Exo 14:18). Some miracles are unbelievable yet undeniable. For example, there are strange escapes from ghastly road accidents that make the doubting Thomases, even unbelievers, to acknowledge the greatness of God.
Also, God brings you to difficult times by removing every human solution so He becomes the only solution. Israel couldn’t swim across the sea, climb the mountains, or confront the Egyptians’ military! It would have been suicidal to try any! They were left with only one option, which was God. In other words, they were to be still and to hold their peace – be calm. Red Seas open only for those who dare to stand still long enough for God to move. “The LORD will fight for you, and you won’t have to do a thing.” (Exo 14:14 CEV).
Similarly, God brings you into difficult situations and to the very places you wish He would take away in order to grow your faith. Faith lessons are taught in storms, fires, and Red Seas. Faith does not grow on comfort but on conflict. God enrolls you in the school of faith by assigning you situations you can not handle without Him. The storms that shake you are the same storms that shape you. The long route made no sense logically, when there was a short one. Even walking through the dry ground of the Red Sea was foolish! Unbelief would have thought – what if the water parted by chance? What if a contrary wind blew? Faith is born when sight dies and when reasoning is suspended. “By faith, they passed through the Red Sea as by dry land..” ( Heb 11:29).
Friends, God wants to take glory in that situation. He doesn’t want you to make Him an alternative but the only One. Walking in faith pleases Him.
