IS SEXUAL URGE NORMAL? 3

Text: 2 Timothy 2:19-22
Memory verse:
”Flee also youthful lusts; but pursue righteousness, faith, love, peace with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart.“ ‭‭2 Timothy 2:22 NKJV

A great miracle that happened when you were saved was that, God cleansed, sanctified and set you apart for Himself and from profane and common uses. This is what is called holiness. He made your body His dwelling place, that is, His temple ‭‭(I Cor‬ ‭3‬:‭17‬). Though, an earthen vessel, the power of the Creator now domiciles in you. Glory! This is a privilege given to every believer.
”…For you are the temple of the living God. As God has said: “I will dwell in them And walk among them. I will be their God, And they shall be My people.”“ ‭‭(II Cor‬ ‭6‬:‭16‬).
Our sex life has been redeemed from the dominion of the Adamic nature, that is, the flesh. Our sex life has been sanctified and made holy. We should no longer live like animals and the pagans, who do not know God by allowing our sex lives to run uncontrolled. Rather, we must be guided by the principles of holiness and honour. ”that each of you should know how to possess his own vessel in sanctification and honor,“ ‭‭(I Thes‬ ‭4‬:‭4‬).
Holiness and sanctification have the element of being made holy. Holiness is the state of being holy while sanctification is being made holy. Sanctification is an ongoing and continuing process. Though, holiness is a privilege given by God to His children at salvation, sanctification is the daily responsibility of His children, according to our text. “Therefore if anyone cleanses himself ..” ‭‭(II Tim‬ ‭2‬:‭21‬).
Did you see the responsibility expected of you? You must cleanse yourself from all the evils and corruptions in the world! This is the ongoing work of sanctification.
Honour means, value and esteem. It is something that others see in you, how you live holy lives. The believers’ sex life stands as a challenge to the unbelievers. Thus, the believers will devalue their lives and testimony when they live like the pagans who do not know God.
God’s standard for the use of your sex life is to ‘flee and pursue’ (II Tim‬ ‭2‬:‭22‬).
‭Friends, doing one and leaving the other will be doing an incomplete work and that will produce no result. Don’t hangout with sin, but flee, giving it up at any cost. While you flee these things, passionately pursue after God and the things that please Him.

Prayer points
1. Father, thank You for the gift of holiness and please help me to continue to live in sanctification and honour, in Jesus’ name.
2. Father, I receive wisdom to flee from sin and to pursue the things that please You, in Jesus’ name.

Today’s declarations
1. As I daily cleanse myself from every defilement, I position myself for divine empowerment.
2. I don’t only flee from sin, I pursue the things that please God.
