IS SEXUAL URGE NORMAL? 4

Text: 1 Corinthians 10:1-13
Memory verse:
”“The beauty of Israel is slain on your high places! How the mighty have fallen!“
‭‭II Samuel‬ ‭1‬:‭19‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Do you know why you have to bring that sexual urge under control through the Spirit? Sexual sin, be it fornication, adultery, pornography, masturbation, rape or homosexualism, has no respect for anyone, irrespective of your anointing, age, status, education, outlook, gender, exposure or nationality. It has brought down both the mighty and the low, kings and subjects, pastors and congregants, old and young, grandparents and new parents, married and unmarried, widows and single parents, teachers and students, leaders and followers etc.
It brought down Reuben and made him lose the right of the firstborn. “Uncontrollable as a flood, you slept with my wife and disgraced my bed. And so you no longer deserve the place of honour” (Gen 49:4 CEV). Believing his sin was covered up, Reuben appeared confidently before his father that day to receive his birthright as the firstborn. He was disappointed! Today, so many are trading their glory under the deception that no one is aware of their sexual escapades. What a delusion!
It brought down Judah and clothed him with shame (Gen 39:15-26). The loose sexual life of the anointed warrior and a judge of Israel, Samson, turned him into a ridicule, a grinder and an entertainer before the Philistines! (Judg 16:21). David, the warrior, brought down Goliath, the champion of the Philistines and the enemy of Israel, but could not defeat sexual passion. His uncontrolled sexual urge brought him down flat and a curse upon his house (2 Sam 11:4).
What the curses of Balaam could not achieve on the Israelites, indisciplined sexual life brought it upon Israel and turned God, their defender into their enemy! (Num 25:1,9).
Friends, through uncontrolled sexual urge, the pure has become impure and the impure has grown worse. People who think that they are invulnerable are usually victims of this monster because that assumption makes them throw off guards. How are the mighty fallen! Don’t only pray against it, watch and abstain from all resemblances of it. May you not be a victim of this monster, in Jesus’ name.

Prayer points
1. Father, please, deliver me from foolish assumptions and overconfidence and help me to watch and pray in Jesus’ name.
2. Father, please, let my life be a blessing to my generation and not a lesson in Jesus’ name.

Today’s declarations
1. I learn from the failures of others so I don’t become a lesson for others, too.
2. Sexual sin is a monster, and I will never tolerate or pamper it in my life.
