IS YOUR CONSCIENCE SAVED?

IS YOUR CONSCIENCE SAVED?

Text: Hebrews 10:1-4
Memory verse:
”how much more shall the blood of Christ, Who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without spot to God, cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?“
‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭9‬:‭14‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

The spirit of man has three basic functions: intuition, fellowship, and conscience. The three are closely related, but they are still distinct in function.
Intuition works like physical senses. However, unlike the physical senses, which are aroused by specific means like people, things, or events, the intuition is not aroused by any cause or reason. It doesn’t come from any means but comes directly from our inner being. Through intuition, a believer can operate beyond his physical senses. The Holy Spirit also reveals His own thoughts through the intuition of the spirit and not through the mind. The Holy Spirit prompts our spirits to cause our intuition to understand His will.
”But immediately, when Jesus perceived in His spirit that they reasoned thus within themselves,
“
‭‭(Mark‬ ‭2‬:‭8‬). Did you notice that? Jesus knew by intuition and not by the physical senses or the head.
The intuition of the unbeliever is completely dead. This happened since Adam ate the forbidden fruit. Man is no longer sensitive to the things of God nor can fellowship with Him (John 4:24). His fellowship towards God is also dead.
Now, even though the unsaved man is dead in intuition and fellowship, his power to differentiate between good and evil, that is, his sense of right and wrong, also called the conscience, still has a little activity. Although, it is dead, in the sense that it doesn’t have the life of God, yet God has left it in man to make him know what is right or wrong (Rom 2:15). This knowing is according to man’s sensation and not the Holy Spirit.
The conscience has no power to save him but like the ark of testimony and the ten commandments, which served as a testimony of God to the Israelites, they approve if they did well or accuse them silently if otherwise (Deut 31:26).
Therefore, to be saved, the Holy Spirit awakens the conscience by shining the light of the gospel, convicting it and purging it from dead works through the blood of Jesus (2 Cor 4:4; John 16:8-11; Heb 9:14). The Holy Spirit injects faith in the sinner, so he will see how the precious blood of Jesus satisfies all the accusations of his conscience.
Friends, good conscience can’t save a sinner, as it didn’t save Cornelius. He has to see the offenses of his conscience through the conviction of the Holy Spirit and by faith receives the precious blood of Jesus as the propitiation for his sin.

Prayer points
1. Father, let the Holy Spirit convict everyone striving for a good conscience, like Cornelius, but do not know the blood sacrifice of Jesus, in Jesus’ name.
2. Father, bring salvation to every participant of this year’s Children Vacation Bible & Skill Acquisition School, in Jesus’ name.

Today’s declarations.
1. I don’t preach to sinners to be good, but I pray that the Holy Spirit will convict their conscience of sin and to inject faith in them to apply the blood sacrifice.
2. Faith in the blood sacrifice of Jesus has purged my conscience from the consciousness of sin.
