Text: Acts 27:22-25
Memory verse:
”For this reason I also suffer these things; nevertheless I am not ashamed, for I know whom I have believed and am persuaded that He is able to keep what I have committed to Him until that Day.“
II Timothy 1:12 NKJV
How much you know about God will reflect on how you react during a crisis or in times of trouble. Can you imagine what your life would have been like if you are an illiterate!
According to our memory text, Paul was unmoved by his suffering and troubles not because he was courageous, like the military who are trained to be emotionally tough in life. Paul was so confident that he wouldn’t be ashamed in the midst of the troubles because he had a personal experiential knowledge of God. He was not perturbed by the situation and was too sure that he would end up well. He was persuaded beyond doubt that the victory would be his at last. “… Still, I am not ashamed; for I know Him [and I am personally acquainted with Him] whom I have believed [with absolute trust and confidence in Him and in the truth of His deity], and I am persuaded [beyond any doubt] that He is able to guard that which I have entrusted to Him until that day [when I stand before Him].” (2 Tim 1:12).
How you react when you hear an unpleasant news will depend on how acquainted you are with God. What you do when you hear about the threats of your enemies or when the medical test result gives a sign of danger will depend on what you know about God. ”He will not be afraid of evil tidings; His heart is steadfast, trusting in the Lord.“ (Psa 112:7).
Friends, determine to know more about God and to know Him personally. Knowing God personally is about walking with God. ”I have set the Lord always before me; Because He is at my right hand I shall not be moved.“ (Psa 16:8). It is deeper than mere intellectual knowledge of God. It is this personal knowledge that will form the basis for your belief.
In this month, nothing will move you. All things will work together for your good, even what your enemies meant for evil. You won’t be ashamed or disgraced. Rather, there will be an abundance of rain, shout of triumph and celebration in your camp. Amen.
