Text: 2 Peter 1:2-4
Memory verse:
“Those who do wickedly against the covenant he shall corrupt with flattery; but the people who know their God shall be strong, and carry out great exploits.”
Daniel 11:32
A giant ship engine had failed and the ship’s owners tried one expert after another, but none could fix it. The engine was complex and the owners didn’t know what to do until they got the contact of an old fellow that lived nearby. The old man had been fixing ships since he was young. He looked frail and needed a walking stick. He had an apprentice, who, carried a large bag of tools for him. Two of the ship owners watched the old man as he inspected the engine very carefully for about an hour.
After looking things over, the old man asked his apprentice to reach into his bag and pull out a small hammer. He gently tapped something in the engine and it instantly roared! The engine was fixed and they left. Later, the owners received a $10,000 bill.
“What?!” the owners exclaimed. “He hardly did anything!” So they replied, “Please send us an itemized bill’ So, the old man reverted and sent a bill that read:
Tapping with a hammer
..…$ 2.00
Knowing where to tap
.…$ 9,998.00
Knowledge makes you a master in your field. “…the people who know their God shall be strong, and carry out great exploits.” (Dan 11:32). The exploits that you command is a function of what you know. As often said, “Knowledge is power”. Your worth is not determined by your size, age or qualifications but what you know. Knowledge carries more value than money or inheritance. Ignorance imprisons but knowledge liberates (Hos 4:6; Isa 5:13; Prov 21:16).
Your spiritual authority is also a reflection of the revelation knowledge of the word of God that you have. Paul had to pray that God would give to the Ephesians the Spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him (Eph 1:17). Revelation knowledge comes by your intimacy with the Holy Spirit and not by academic acquisition.
Friends, the more you know, the more exploits you will command.
Prayer points
1. Father, please create in me a desire for the knowledge of You in Jesus name.
2. Father, please strengthen me and cause me to do exploits as I know more about You in Jesus name.
Today’s declarations
1. Knowledge puts me over and above the devil but ignorance gives him advantage over one.
2. The more spiritual insight I have, the more spiritual command I gain and the more I do exploits.
