Text: Gen 3:1-7
Memory verse
“For the Lord gives wisdom; From His mouth come knowledge and understanding;”
(Prov 2:6).
God’s knowledge is superior to earthly knowledge. God’s knowledge is gained when the Holy Spirit enlightens your mind through the word of God. Whereas earthly knowledge is gained from facts, information, and skills acquired through experience or education. You acquire God’s knowledge through the Bible, Holy Spirit-inspired books and God’s servants (II Tim 3:15; Deut 4:6)
True biblical knowledge makes you to love and delight more in the pleasure of God rather than puffing up. Bible knowledge that puffs you up is sense knowledge. Such knowledge feeds the flesh and not the spirit. It is sense knowledge that makes you proud (1 Cor 8:2).
We must seek after true knowledge of God, which liberates, not just a random consumption of whatever seems spiritual, like the seven Books of Moses, Jehovah Witness Bible etc.
knowledge can give you life or cause you death depending on the kind of knowledge. For example, Adam and Eve got negative knowledge of the forbidden fruit and it brought them death. Charles Darwin, the founder of the theory of Evolution was once a theological student. He erred after being influenced by negative knowledge from some of his mentors. Today, his error that man originated from apes and not made by God has pervaded the world. When the truth is also stretched beyond limits, it becomes an error. That is what is called heresy.
Friends, the knowledge that is not rooted in the word of God, not inspired by the Holy Spirit, doesn’t liberate you and doesn’t make you to love God more is negative knowledge and will cause you death.
Prayer points
1. Father, please, purge my mind from every negative knowledge in Jesus name.
2. Father, please, let the Holy Spirit help me to discern negative knowledge and to turn away from it in Jesus name.
Today’s declarations
1. True knowledge makes me wise unto salvation and not unto destruction.
2. God’s knowledge is gained through the word of God, inspired by the Holy Spirit and increases my delight in God.
