LIFE WITHOUT JESUS IS LIKE A DONUT

LIFE WITHOUT JESUS IS LIKE A DONUT

Text: Ecclesiastes 1:12-18
Memory verse:
“and you are complete in Him, who is the head of all principality and power” (Col 2:10).

I love this children’s song, written by Robert C Evans.
Refrain
Life without Jesus is like a donut
Like a donut, like a donut
Life without Jesus is like a donut

‘Cause there’s a hole in the middle of your heart
It might be okay for a while
Then the truth will wipe away your smile
There’s something sad inside me I cannot control
When I think about a donut hole

‘Cause there’s a hole in the middle of your heart
But when Jesus fills your heart
He satisfies your soul
Like a pastry nugget in a donut hole.

So many are deceived by their achievements, fame, riches, status, power, and influence, thinking they can cover up their internal deficiency with any of these. Have you ever said, “If only I could have this, I will be satisfied. What happened after having it? You just discovered a craving for more or for another thing. There is a vacuum in every human being, like the hole in a donut, which can only be filled up by the One who made us. God deliberately left that hole there so we can be incomplete without Him and that this may drive us to seek Him. Without Christ in man, there can be no inner peace, joy and contentment and life will be filled with frustration.
However, in trying to cover up this inadequacy, many have gone out to seek the wrong things, which could not satisfy their longing and plunging themselves into greater troubles in the process. “Just as Death and Destruction are never satisfied, so human desire is never satisfied.” (Prov‬ ‭27‬:‭20‬ ‭NLT‬‬).
Has anyone derived satisfaction through gaining more knowledge? No. Rather, it leads to sorrow and weariness of the soul (Eccl‬ ‭1‬:‭18; 2:12; II Timothy 3:7). Can riches satisfy? It’s nothing but vanity.” ‭‭(Eccl‬ ‭5‬:‭10‬).
Nothing, not even, a relocation to a foreign land, a new ‘love’ relationship, a new home, great children, religious titles, or examination success can give satisfaction outside of Christ.
Friends, stop pursuing after things that will never fill up the inadequacy in your heart. Rather, seek Jesus, and He will fill that vacuum and give you satisfaction.

Prayer points
1. I renounce every confidence in anything or other persons, outside Christ, in Jesus’ name.
2. Father, thank You for making me complete in Christ and for giving me inner satisfaction, in Jesus’ name.

Today’s declarations
1. My heart was like the hole in the donut until Christ came in and filled it with His Spirit.
2. I am complete in Christ Jesus, and I have satisfaction in Him.
