LIFE’S REWARD

LIFE’S REWARD

Text: Numbers 32:6-12
Memory verse:
“So Moses swore on that day, saying, ‘Surely the land where your foot has trodden shall be your inheritance and your children’s forever, because you have wholly followed the my God.” Joshua‬ ‭14‬:‭9‬ ‭
‭‭
I learnt many things through my wife’s network business. Each company has its own policy but there was one that I learnt a lesson of life from. In this, the distributor loses all his or her cumulative points once he or she gets a break and not active for sometimes. This is similar to what happens when a person stops persevering in the race of life.
“But when a righteous man turns away from his righteousness and commits iniquity, and does according to all the abominations that the wicked man does, shall he live? All the righteousness which he has done shall not be remembered; because of the unfaithfulness of which he is guilty and the sin which he has committed, because of them he shall die.” ‭‭(Ezek‬ ‭18‬:‭24‬)
In athletics, the last step before the finish line is more important than the other steps. It is this last step of the race that determines the winner. It is the last step that counts the most. It is your success in the last step that qualifies you to receive the reward for the previous steps. It means that, even if you run well in the other steps but fails in the last step, you will be seen as someone who hasn’t run any step at all. The failure at this last step automatically erases the gains in the previous steps. This is what Paul describes as suffering in vain (Gal 3:4). No one will receive his due or cumulative reward who has not persevered to the end. Perseverance truly delivers life’s rewards.
Friends, the point is this, no one ever rewards quitters? That’s why no quitter was ever mentioned among the hall of faith in the scriptures (Heb 11). Did you ever read anything further about the ten spies after they gave that evil report of the land? You only hear of quitters when they are used to warn us against quitting. Therefore, continue to persevere and life’s reward will be delivered to you.

Prayer points
1. Father, let me never grow weary or give up at the last step of the race of life in Jesus name.
2. Father, let me never labour or suffer in vain in Jesus name.

Today’s declarations
1. The last step of the race of life counts most so I pay more attention to it.
2. I will not labour nor suffer in vain so long as I continue with my faith to the finish line.
