Text: 1 Corinthians 8:1-6

The issue of Valentine has caused so much trouble in the body of Christ. While some believe that it’s a Christian holiday and should be celebrated, others believe it
has a pagan root and condemn those who mark the day as promoting idolatry in the church.
Paul said, “Now concerning things offered to idols: We know that we all have knowledge. Knowledge puffs up, but love edifies.” (‭‭I Cor‬ ‭8‬:‭1‬).
Now, whether a Christian or pagan root, whatever we do must be motivated by love. Love sees beyond the silver lining. Love made Paul to forget his status and his citizenship right to become all things to all men. Love made him set aside all protocols to reach out to the lost just as our Lord and our King, Jesus stooped to our level to reach us. He broke the sabbath to heal and left ninety nine to seek for one! (1 Cor 9:22; Mark 3:4-5; Matt 18:12). Love breaks barriers. Love pulls down traditional walls. Love suspends protocols, all for the greater goal.
It’s also important to note that the devil hasn’t created any day, so it isn’t right to dedicate a day to him. Today is the day the Lord has made and an opportunity to declare His glory. It’s an opportunity to share the love of God.
“…but we should remember that while knowledge may make a man look big, it’s only love that will make him grow to his full stature” (1 Cor 8:1 Phi).
Knowledge without love makes arrogant. Knowledge breeds conceit but love builds character.
Knowledge destroys but love protects.
Friends, let God fill your thoughts today, for God is love. Think about how He stooped to reach you in your helpless state and conferred on you the blessing which you don’t deserve. Bring Him profit by sharing His love with someone today.

2. Father, help me to maximize today and to bring You profit by sharing Your saving love with someone today in Jesus name
