POWER OF THE HOLY COMMUNION (6)

POWER OF THE HOLY COMMUNION (6)

Text: 1 Corinthians 11:27–30
Memory verse:
“For this reason, many are weak and sick among you, and many sleep.”
‭‭I Corinthians‬ ‭11‬:‭30‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

A phone may be perfect, but without charging, it will shut down.
Communion is one of God’s ways of recharging the believer. God never sends His people on a journey without feeding them first.
When Jesus said, ‘Take, eat,’ He wasn’t only speaking symbolically.
Rather, He was offering strength for the journey ahead. During the first Passover, God commanded, “They shall eat the flesh…” (Exo 12:8-11). The Israelites ate the Passover before they walked out of Egypt, just as you eat before beginning a long journey. God gives strength before demanding movement, just like an angel fed Elijah in preparation for the long journey (1 Kings 19: 7-8). Communion releases spiritual strength, emotional healing
and grace to move forward steadily. The Christian journey is like a marathon, and so strength renewal is necessary at the start and repeatedly as the race proceeds.
According to our text, Paul warns that we should examine ourselves before eating. Then, he said we should discern the Lord’s body before partaking in the Communion. He said, for “this reason”, not “these reasons”, some are weak, some are sick, and some sleep, that is, some die prematurely. The problem is that they just take the Communion religiously, not knowing the significance of the body or the difference. The blood was shed for our forgiveness, but His body was broken for our healing (Matt 8:17).
Therefore, taken rightly, communion becomes a channel of our strengthening – physical and emotional renewal, healing, and longevity.
In the old covenant, strength came from food for a journey, but in the new covenant, strength comes from Christ Himself. He is the Bread of Life, He is alive, and He lives in us (John 6:35; Gal 2:21; Phil 4:13). Strength comes from covenant life. Therefore, Communion reminds and reinforces that His life sustains ours.
Communion is participating in Christ’s life. “… The bread which we break, is it not the communion of the body of Christ?” (‭‭I Cor‬ ‭10‬:‭16‬). Communion, in Greek, means sharing, participant partaking of life. When we partake in faith, we partake in Christ’s resurrected life (John 6:51).
Friends, you can partake in the unconquerable and supernatural nature of Christ. Communion is where the life of Christ is imparted to sustain the believer. Hallelujah!

Prayer points
1. Father, as I receive the body of Christ, I receive divine strength for my body, soul, and spirit; I receive fresh oil, fresh strength, and fresh fire, in Jesus’ name.
2. Let every sickness, degeneration, or hidden affliction lose their hold on me now; I reject premature death and break its appointment over my life, in Jesus’ name.

Today’s declarations
1. As I partake of the Communion, I receive strength; the life of Christ flows in me; I am renewed in body, soul, and spirit, and weakness gives way to divine strength.
2. My bloodline is purified by the blood of Jesus; by His broken body, I walk in health, wholeness, vitality, and longevity. Communion restores what life has drained.
