PRAISE GOD IN CHANGING TIMES

PRAISE GOD IN CHANGING TIMES

Text: Psalm 59:16-17
Memory verse: “I will bless the Lord at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth.”
‭‭Psalms‬ ‭34‬:‭1‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

We have seen that Noah received God’s promise not by his merits but God’s mercies. However, God was moved by his thankful attitude. A thankful attitude always provokes uncommon blessings. As soon as he alighted from the ark, he first recognized God’s needs before he ever considered his own. He sought to please God before pleasing himself. Jesus said, “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.” ‭‭(Matt‬ ‭6‬:‭33‬)‬‬.
David also said in Psalm 59:16, “But I will sing of your strength; I will sing aloud of your steadfast love in the morning. For you have been to me a fortress and a refuge in the day of my distress.”
Jesus said, “seek first” and David said, “I will sing aloud of your steadfast love in the morning”. The beginning of every new timeline is your morning.
Always start every new beginning with God, be it a new year, a new day, a new week, a new age, a new job, a new home, and so forth. God deserves the first place in the lives of His children. That is the most important period. Seek Him through thanksgiving, praise, and worship. Sing aloud of His steadfast love. It is a form of first fruit, being the first and best time of your year.
A thankful attitude makes you turn your attention away from yourself and any other thing and to focus on God. Nothing was a concern to Noah at that time than worshiping God.
Noah returned to a completely different world. It was nothing compared to what he knew before, for it had totally changed. The world that was submerged with water for about one whole year could never remain the same. The landscape, the mineral structure, and the atmosphere would be different. With no other living soul, except Noah and his family, the world would have been socially dry. His attitude demonstrated that God had not changed: he worshipped God before he entered the ark, and he worshiped Him after he came out of the ark! This is another piece of evidence of a thankful attitude. He doesn’t change because things change. He doesn’t get cold in worship or stop worshiping because of the changing times. This was David’s resolution, “I will bless the Lord at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth.” ‭‭(Psa‬ ‭34‬:‭1‬)‬‬.
Friends, this year, as you give God the first fruit of your time in praise and worship, also determine never to allow any change around you to take away His praise from your mouth.

Prayer points
1. Father, as I praise You, help me to turn away my focus from my needs and to focus on You, in Jesus’ name.
2. Father, throughout this year, let no change around me be able to stop Your praise in my mouth, in Jesus’ name.

Today’s declarations
1. God meets my needs as I turn away my focus from my needs to focus solely on Him,
2. In 2024, irrespective of any change around me, God’s praise shall continually be in my mouth.
