PROVOKING DIVINE RESTORATION 3

PROVOKING DIVINE RESTORATION 3

Text: Job 13:13-16
Memory verse:
“But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.” Matthew‬ ‭6‬:‭33‬ ‭
‭‭
God must be our only hope and not one of our hopes. There should never be any substitute for Him in our lives.
People who have alternatives to God in their lives easily compromise their faith in trying times. God doesn’t commit Himself to such.
For Job, it was a different experience. Nothing could dissuade him, not even his wife and close friends could weaken his resolve to wait on God for His salvation. He closed the door against all other options for his deliverance apart from God.
“If a man dies, shall he live again? All the days of my hard service I will wait, Till my change comes.” ‭‭(Job‬ ‭14‬:‭14‬).
“Though He slay me, yet will I trust Him. ….” ‭‭(Job‬ ‭13‬:‭15).
The NLT puts it this way, “God might kill me, but I have no other hope. …” ‭‭Job’s commitment to God far exceeds his physical life and the things of this world. He preferred to give up his needs than to lose eternal salvation. He maintained his faith and ultimate hope in God to redeem and resurrect him on the last day. “For I know that my Redeemer lives, And He shall stand at last on the earth; And after my skin is destroyed, this I know, That in my flesh I shall see God, Whom I shall see for myself, And my eyes shall behold, and not another. How my heart yearns within me!” ‭‭(Job‬ ‭19‬:‭25‬-‭27‬).
This is one of the reasons why satan couldn’t get him to compromise. Pleasing God was his greatest desire, so he couldn’t be tempted by his desire for a change of condition. “But we are tempted when we are drawn away and trapped by our own evil desires.” ‭‭(James‬ ‭1‬:‭14‬ ‭GNT‬‬).
Friends, when your desire for God outweighs your physical needs, then you provoke God to step into your affairs and to restore your losses.
