SAVED TO SERVE 2

SAVED TO SERVE 2

Text: Matthew 12:25-30
Memory verse:
Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness
Romans 6:16 KJV

The greatest description that any person can ever have is to be described as the servant of God. It is a privilege to be called into the service of the Almighty God. Look at how apostle Paul was described – ā€œPaul, a servant of Jesus Christ, called to be an apostle, separated unto the gospel of Godā€.
However, being a servant of God comes with responsibilities. You become the servant of whoever you obey. ā€Donā€™t you realize that you become the slave of whatever you choose to obey? You can be a slave to sin, which leads to death, or you can choose to obey God, which leads to righteous living.ā€œ (Rom 6:16 NLT). Adam and Eve, faced with the two options of either obeying God or obeying satan in the Garden of Eden, they chose to disobey God and obey satan. The consequence is that they lost their authority to satan, and he became their master from that moment.
Until then, Adam was in charge of the world and had complete authority over all things. He named all the animals, and all flesh were subject to him. He was the strong man until satan overpowered him through deception, bound him, and eventually took over his dominion and all that he had. According to the law of warfare, when two kingdoms fight, the winning king takes over the loserā€™s kingdom and the spoils (Matt 12:29). Satan didnā€™t only inherit all that Adam had but his freedom and that of his seeds after him. Thus, after the fall, the human race came under the new master, that is, satan (Rom 5:12).
What began as a simple disobedience led to generational slavery. Likewise, some habits that start off as harmless fun will lead you to bondage and unimaginable satanic servitude.
One may say, ā€œI am not obeying satan, and I am not his servant!ā€ Yes, in this same passage, Jesus made this profound statement. ā€He who is not with Me is against Me, and he who does not gather with Me scatters abroad.ā€œ ā€ā€(Mattā€¬ ā€12ā€¬:ā€30ā€¬).
Friends, are you with Him in the promotion of the kingdom business? Are you gathering with Him in His soul rescue mission, or are you scattering through sin and disobedience? You canā€™t stand aloof! Be a servant of God today by joining Jesus in promoting righteousness and the kingdom business through His body, that is, the church.

Prayer points
1. Father, thank You for delivering me from the slavery to sin and restoring my dominion in Jesusā€™ name.
2. Father, I receive grace to continually obey You and to serve You, in Jesusā€™ name.

Todayā€™s declarations
1. I canā€™t stand aloof, for I am either a servant of sin or a servant of righteousness.
2. I will not tolerate any little sin in my life lest I entangle myself again with the yokeĀ ofĀ bondage.
