Text: Mark 5:25-34
Memory verse:
”You are snared by the words of your mouth; You are taken by the words of your mouth.“
Proverbs 6:2 NKJV
When it comes to receiving from God by faith, most believers think that they can just sit down and wait for God to do everything. No, you have a part to play in getting your desired result. The angel said to Mary, ”For with God, nothing will be impossible.”“
(Luke 1:37). This means that with God and you, nothing will be impossible. This also means that you can write your own ticket with God if you speak and believe right.
It is not enough to believe, you must also say what you believe. In fact, if you are not speaking, it is because you don’t believe (II Cor 4:13). Your wellbeing today is a product of what you said yesterday (Prov 18:20). A person is defeated with his lips (Prov 6:2). See what the woman said in our text. ”For she said, “If only I may touch His clothes, I shall be made well.”“ (Mark 5:28). She said what she desired of God. Knowing what she had passed through, it would have been justifiable before man if she had grumbled, kept mute, or said negative things. God’s ways are not man’s ways. This woman wrote her ticket with God with what she said. She spoke positively and got what she desired.
Likewise, in the midst of the threats of Goliath and the fears of king Saul and the whole army of Israel, David said to Goliath, ”This day the Lord will deliver you into my hand, and I will strike you and take your head from you. ….“ (I Sam 17:46).
Friends, you can’t stop the devil from talking, but you have a choice either to be mute about what he says to you or to counter it by saying what you believe about God. The devil would have been saying to the woman things like, “The result won’t be different from all you have had with the physicians. You are going to waste your time again. You will return with shame. It’s better you accept your condition as it is”. Rather than accepting and saying these negatives, the woman said what she believed about Jesus!
David couldn’t stop the devil from speaking, but he responded by saying what he believed about His God (1 Sam 17:43-44). Likewise, when satan spoke to Jesus on that day of temptation, Jesus replied with “It is written…”.
What is the devil saying to you? Don’t struggle to stop him from talking, but stop him by saying what you believe about God concerning yourself or that situation.
Prayer points
1. Father, thank You for the honour to write my own ticket with You and have my desired results.
2. I refuse to be silent and to accept the verdict of the devil in Jesus’ name.
Today’s declarations
1. I speak because I believe that to be silent when one should speak is a sign of unbelief.
2. I won’t struggle to stop the devil from speaking, but I counter him by saying what I believe about God concerning my life and my situation.
