SEEK BEYOND THE PRESENT

SEEK BEYOND THE PRESENT

Text: Exodus 15:22-27
Memory Verse:
“Whenever I am afraid, I will trust in You.” Psalms‬ ‭56‬:‭3‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Challenging times can create fear, anxiety, doubt and hopelessness if we permit it.
The children of Israel, having been on a three days journey through the wilderness, became thirsty and looked forward to finding water. Then finding water, they discovered that the water was bitter and undrinkable, so they began to complain against Moses. They soon lost hope in God and faith in the One who just parted the Red Sea “And the people complained against Moses, saying, “What shall we drink?”
‭‭(Exodus‬ ‭15‬:‭24‬)‬‬
Since, they had lost faith in God and His ability, they didn’t see any other thing but doom. Complaining and focusing on the negative can plunge you deeper and downward the more, causing you to forget the blessings in your life. Jeremiah says, when a person’s heart departs from the Lord, he will not see when good comes (Jer 17:5-6). That was the experience of the Israelites here. Marah was not God’s best for them. He wanted to move them from Marah to Elim, the place of abundance. “Then they came to Elim, where there were twelve wells of water and seventy palm trees; so they camped there by the waters.” ‭‭(Exo‬dus 15‬:‭27‬).
Twelve wells! Wow! The twelve tribes didn’t need to struggle with one well as each could now have one well to themselves. They had seventy palm trees to provide enough shade and refreshments. They didn’t see all these in the midst of their hopelessness.
Let hope rise up again in you. In the midst of his challenge, David said “I would have lost heart, unless I had believed that I would see the goodness of the Lord In the land of the living. Wait on the Lord; be of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart; wait, I say, on the Lord!” ‭‭(Psa‬ ‭27‬:‭13‬-‭14‬).
Friends, put on your spiritual binoculars to have a glimpse of the joy and glory awaiting you. Trying times are not meant to last forever. God is bringing you from a place of insufficiency to abundance, a place of not-enough to a place of more-than-enough in Jesus name.

Prayer points
1. I refuse to lose hope in the midst of my present challenges in Jesus name.
2. Father, please open my spiritual eyes to see the goodness ahead of me and help me to patiently wait for you in Jesus name.

Today’s declarations
1. Rather than complaining, I give thanks in all circumstances while I confidently look forward to my change.
2. I believe this is not my destination but a curve, for I see better things ahead
