MESSAGE

Let’s sing these songs three times:

Modupe pe mori aanu gba,

(I am grateful I obtain mercy)

Modupe pe mori aanu gba,

(I am grateful I obtain mercy)

Tori ki i se gbogbo eniyan l’ori aanu gba

(Because it is not all people who obtain mercy)

Je k’aanu re soro s’aye mi,

(Let your mercy speak to my life)

Je k’aanu re soro s’aye mi,

(Let your mercy speak to my life)

Emi alaileniyan, emi alailenikan,

(I who don’t have anybody)

Je k’aanu re soro s’aye mi.

(Let your mercy speak to my life).

One dangerous thing in the journey of one’s life is to be quiet when you are supposed to speak. Bartholomew got delivered because he refused to keep quiet. Although people were asking him to stop, he had the understanding that it was his time to get delivered and his noise stopped Jesus. The song you just sang now is a prayer and the heavens are listening.

Pray! “Lord, let your mercy come into my life. There are a lot of challenges in this life, Father please let divine mercy come into my life.” Know that, if God’s mercy enters your life, that means you are going to enter the new year with a new glory. “Lord, let your mercy come into my life this evening.”

Pray again! Jabez was poor and a pauper; nothing he laid his hands upon got successful. His father died when he was still in his mother’s womb. Jabez went to his mother to ask how his own case was like that but his mother told him that was his destiny and he shouldn’t expect a turnaround; this voice was bitter in Jabez’s hearing (1 Chron. 4:4 – 10). People of God, Jabez looked not unto his mother for what she said added to his sorrow, he went to God instead and uttered four statements that made his life get a turnaround which made his name change from “Jabez, the poor” to “Jabez, the most honourable.” Only four statements: “Lord, bless me indeed and enlarge my coast and not allow my eyes see evil or trouble”. The Bible says, “And God brought to pass all what he said.” Pray! Lord, this evening, say what will bring a turnaround to my life and destiny for good.

One of Isaac’s children was Jacob. The meaning of Jacob is ‘a supplanter’ and if we are to check how he related with his brother, he was indeed a supplanter; he took away all Esau’s blessings with deceits. He took Esau’s blessings from Isaac. Someday also, Esau was hungry while Jacob was eating porridge; he asked Jacob for porridge, but then, Jacob asked for an exchange, he wants Esau to sell his birthright. Esau foolishly sold his birthright to Jacob, and after eating, unfortunately, he couldn’t get it back. People of God, that was who Jacob was.

However, Jacob, in the journey of his life, had his name changed in Gen. 32:24. He wrestled with an angel and didn’t allow the angel go without blessing him. The angel then asked for his name, and changed it from Jacob (the Supplanter) to Israel (the father of nations). Pray! “Lord, please change my name. Do me a favour more than my age. Change my destiny for good and let every evil pronouncements against me from my childhood be changed.” Ask God to please give you a new name and blessings more than your age. If you prayed, you will no longer eat sorrow, 2021’s death will not be yours; you also start next year and finish it in Jesus Name.

The song we sang not quite long says not everyone receives mercy. Why is it that mercy does not speak for everyone? Prepare for prayer this evening and if you can pray, your generation will enjoy the answers to your prayers for life. Curses and diseases do repeat themselves over generations; however, Mercy does same also. Someone died somewhere one day and people were mourning. Right there, one man mourned, saying the man who just died suffered from the beginning and also died in suffering; somebody else affirmed it, saying, that is how it has always been for their generation. If there is any evil pronouncement over your generation, the power of the Lord thwarts it over you in Jesus Name!

Let me tell you one secret about Mercy. Out of all our prayers, prayer for mercy is the greatest. It is mercy that God cannot refuse. Mercy makes the enemies incapacitated. Mercy is what reduces or cancels the punishment of your sins before God. The power in mercy is what sent Jesus to the earth. When Satan was sent down to the earth, the host of heaven said, “
woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea! for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath
” (Rev. 12:12). Satan rebelled against God, he passed his boundary and also caused a division among all the angels in heaven, some followed him while some did not, God then sent him away. Jude 1:6 confirms it, the Bible says, “And the angels which kept not their first estate, but left their own habitation, he hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great day.” People of God, it was mercy that caused Christ to come into this earth. On the day Jesus was born in Luke 2:14, the host of heaven appeared to the Shepherds, saying, “Glory to God in the highest, an on earth peace, good will toward men”, that was when the earth knew peace. If not for the coming of Jesus, where would you have been? The witches would probably have killed and sucked your blood. The power in Jesus Name has however made you alive; that is one of the work of mercy.

In John 8, an accused was brought to Jesus, they claimed they caught her red-handed in adultery. They then asked Jesus that according to Moses, whoever is found like that should be stoned to death, but what does Jesus wants them to do. If Jesus had told them to behave just like Moses had said, then mercy didn’t bring Jesus to the world. However, if he had said they should not kill her, then that means he is going contrary to the Law of Moses. Jesus used wisdom here and told them that whoever has not done what that woman has done should be the first to throw stone. Guilty, they all left one after the other; Jesus lifted his eyes and asked the woman, “Where are the accusers?” She said she can’t find them again. Jesus then tell her that he doesn’t accuse her, but then, she shouldn’t do such again.

Law punishes, but mercy delivers. Law sends people to prison, but mercy delivers and sets free. The judgment of mercy is “Sin no more!” If not for mercy, who would have called God and he would answer? In Romans 9:13, the Bible says, “As it is written, Jacob have I loved, but Esau have I hated”. We are aware that Esau and Jacob were twin brothers; Esau was the first, while Jacob was the second. But then, God says he loves Jacob and hated Esau. Is there any offence that Esau committed or a good that Jacob did that made God love him? No, this is the power in Mercy – it isn’t your tithe or holiness that is upholding you, it is totally God’s mercy. In verse 14 of the same chapter, the Bible says, “What shall we say then? Is there unrighteousness with God? God forbid.” Paul carefully looked at this in this chapter and asked if there was unrighteousness with God. No, God forbid! “For he saith to Moses, I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion,” (verse 15). Not everyone on earth gives birth; everyone lives in a house, but not everyone has their own house. It is not all men that have wives nor all women with husbands; also, not everyone who goes to school graduates. Why is it like that? Psalms 115:3 – “but our God is in the heavens: he hath done whatsoever he hath pleased.” Only mercy can deliver you!

In Genesis 25:22, the Bible says of Rebecca that “
the children struggled together within her.
” Isaac got wedded at 40 and then, his wife was barren for 20 years. However, when Rebecca got pregnant, she was distressed and in pains, what was wrong? The Bible says, “
And she went to enquire of the Lord. And the Lord said unto her, Two nations are in thy womb, and two manner of people shall be separated from thy bowels;
” Right from the womb, Jacob and Esau had been struggling with each other. Jacob held Esau’s two legs even when they were being given birth to, “
and the one people shall be stronger than the other people; and the elder shall serve the younger.”

It is from heaven that one receives mercy. Only those who receive mercy live long on earth and reap the fruits of their labour. The bible says we will not build for others to inhabit and we won’t plant for others to eat; this only comes to pass on those whom God has mercy upon. One of our members, a pastor, travelled this last month. The driver oversped and didn’t listen to the passengers; they had a head collision with a truck and ten people together with the driver died. However, the pastor and his son were safe, that is mercy.

The sickness which came upon someone yesterday came upon you also, but you got healed – that is mercy. While someone is barren, another is called the mother of twins – that is mercy. Mercy is also what made you wake up today. This evening, God told me in one of the Tuesday programs that I usually have; He said two things will pass through Nigeria next year: Mercy and Vengeance. God says he will take vengeance over the blood crying from the ground. A lot of blood from the grave cry out to God every time, but then, there are some people that He will still have mercy upon. I pray for you, among those who will receive mercy next year, you are one of them in Jesus Name, Amen!

I tell you, mercy is what unlocks every good thing. David wrote in Psalms 23, he says in the last verse that goodness and mercy will follow him all through the days of his life. Joseph’s mother was also barren, while Leah had a lot of children. Rachael could not give birth like Leah, she only had two sons. However, Joseph had a great glory and mercy followed him. He was a child without enough knowledge; he dreamt that stars bowed down to his; other eaves were bowing to his own and even 11 stars bow down to him – Heaven loved Joseph before he was born, his own cloth was even special. If you are given mercy, good things that have never happened in your family would begin from you – Joseph’s brothers then connived to kill him, but He who God has preserved, no man can kill. He ruled over them despite being the youngest – that is mercy.

God told Samuel to go to Jesse’s house because He has found a king there to replace Saul. God, however warned him not to check for handsomeness or physical attributes. When he got there, he met the other brothers at home whereas David was not at home. All the brothers passed through before Samuel, but God did not choose any of them. Samuel then asked Jesse if that was all his children but he replied “No” and that there was a young one in the bush. Samuel chose not to sit until he arrives. David was then made the King of the nation, automatically making his elders bow down to him. Mercy can never be confronted or negated, anyone who chooses to confront or negate your destiny will be punished by God in Jesus Name, Amen.

If you are barren, you need the mercy of God. After Hannah was barren for a long time, she gave birth to 7 children – that is mercy. Mercy uplifts one and makes a poor person wealthy. The Bible says God lifts a poor man from the dunghill and a pauper from the dust to sit with kings; mercy makes a poor man rich. In 2 Samuel 9, all Saul’s lineage had died, but there was an invalid man who mercy located. David asked if there was anyone left in Saul’s house for him to have mercy upon, because of Jonathan, his friend. They then told him that the only person left was an invalid. Still, David told them to go and bring him. When you receive the mercy of God, no power of darkness can prevail over you. When the lame Mephibosheth came, David assured him that they will both be eating at the same table.

Mercy confuses the wise with foolishness. Be on your feet.
