Text: Acts 2:37-39
Memory verse:
“And it shall come to pass afterward That I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh; Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, Your old men shall dream dreams, Your young men shall see visions.” (Joel 2:28)

It’s always surprising to me to see so many believers who are not filled with the Holy Spirit and yet not willing to receive. I have personally observed that a large percentage of these people are those who came to know the Lord Jesus at adulthood. Unlike children who are simple and believing, some adults argue and analyze the word of God. While God doesn’t commend childishness, He esteems childlikeness as a great virtue. “Assuredly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child will by no means enter it.” ‭‭(Mark‬ ‭10‬:‭15‬).
The promise of the Holy Spirit is for all ages ‭‭(Joel‬ ‭2‬:‭28‬). Today, you see a lot of parents who see their children speaking in tongues and just consider it as a ‘youth thing’! They see it as over zealousness. No, Peter said, “For the promise is to you and to your children, and to all who are afar off, as many as the Lord our God will call.” (Acts‬ ‭2‬:‭39‬).
The New Testament church had both the young and the old filled with the Holy Spirit. In fact, unlike today’s church, it was strange to find anyone without the Holy Spirit’ infilling. When the apostles heard that Samaria had received Christ, they immediately sent Peter and John to pray for them that they might receive the Holy Spirit (Acts 9:14-15). When Paul got to Ephesus and found out that the disciples there hadn’t heard about nor received the Holy Spirit, he immediately prayed for them and they spoke in tongues (Acts 19:1-6).
Friends, speaking in tongues is for you. Don’t let the devil use the excuse of age or status to cut you off from this grace. Humble yourself as a little child and earnestly desire the infilling of the Holy Spirit. You may even seek for someone to pray for you today.

Prayer points
1. Father, please create a desire to receive the Holy Spirit in the heart of all believers who are not yet filled in Jesus name.
2. Father, please fill all ages of believers who have asked for the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in tongues in Jesus name.

Today’s declarations
1. Repentance and earnest desire are key to receiving the Holy Spirit.
2. Speaking in tongues is for me and for all believers of all ages.
