START YOUR DAY IN THE MORNING

START YOUR DAY IN THE MORNING

Text: Psalm 5:1-3
Memory Verse:
“Awake, my glory! Awake, lute and harp! I will awaken the dawn.” Psalms‬ ‭57‬:‭8‬ ‭
‭‭
I have heard many ask, “Can’t I have my quiet time in the evening, after the day’s activities instead of the morning?” Many adults who still struggle with this, claim that they usually find it more convenient to have it in the evening because of the house chores in the morning and the need to leave the house early for the day’s work. In the contrary, your busy schedule should even lead you to begin your day by spending more quality time in prayer with God. Hear what Martin Luther, a man attested to be truly busy said, “I have so much to do that I shall spend the first three hours in prayer.”
Let’s study further on why it’s better to start the day first in communion with the Lord.
Firstly, there is no better way to show ingratitude than to rush out in the morning without acknowledging and spending time with the One who has kept you and bestowed much benefits on you (Psa 4:8). He who is too busy to acknowledge past benefits shouldn’t expect new benefits. God’s mercies are renewed in the morning to those who acknowledge past mercies. John Bunyan said, “He who runs from God in the morning will scarcely find Him the rest of the day”
Secondly, getting out in the morning without having time with God is like planning to reap where one hasn’t sowed. Morning time is sowing time. Starting your day in prayer in the morning is giving to God the first and best time of your day. It is the firstfruit of your day and when you dedicate that hour to Him, God then declares the remaining part of the day holy and He defends it. Quiet time is a time to commit your day to the Lord’s hands. You may not know what the day holds but you can trust your day in the hands of Him who controls the day. The time you spend with the Lord is not a waste, rather it is a gain, as it adds value to your day. You simply achieve more when you start your day with God (Prov 3:3-5; Rom 11:16). Smith Wigglesworth, knew this and he quipped, “I never get out of bed in the morning without having communion with God in the Spirit.”
Friends, like D. L. Moody said, “We ought to see the face of God every morning before we see the face of man”, you can also resolve to do this. You will discover that your best days will be the days you spent time with God first in the morning.

Prayer points
1. Father, create a longing for You in my heart that will always drive me to You in the morning in Jesus name.
2. Father, please, let nothing be able to displace my communion with You in the morning in Jesus name.

Today’s declarations
1. Heavy workload leads me to spend more time with God in the morning rather than give up time or spend lesser time with God.
2. When I spend quality time communing with God in the morning, I find Him in the rest of my day.
