THE ANOINTING (6)

THE ANOINTING (6)

Text: Exodus 30:31-33
Memory verse:
“O mountains of Gilboa, Let there be no dew nor rain upon you, Nor fields of offerings. For the shield of the mighty is cast away there! The shield of Saul, not anointed with oil.”
‭‭II Samuel‬ ‭1‬:‭21‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

God does not pour His precious anointing on swines because they won’t value it. And whatever a man does not value will eventually be abused.
“Don’t waste what is holy on people who are unholy. Don’t throw your pearls to pigs! They will trample the pearls, then turn and attack you.” ‭‭(Matt‬ ‭7‬:‭6‬ ‭NLT‬‬).
In the ancient times, God specially gave direction for the administration of the holy anointing oil. According to our text, those who were to stand in the priestly office were consecrated and given certain restrictions regarding the anointing oil. “It shall not be poured on man’s flesh…”
‭‭(Exodus‬ ‭30‬:‭32‬). The Lord won’t put His anointing on the fleshy life, that’s the sinful life. The priests were to be holy in all areas of their lives to be able to receive the anointing oil. In fact, the high priest appeared before God with a head covering, which was a turban head piece along with a gold plate engraved upon it, “HOLINESS TO THE LORD.” (Exodus 28:36).
Also, Samson was a man who was heavily anointed from the womb but didn’t know how to preserve the anointing on him. He kept violating his consecration, living in sin until the anointing departed from him.
‭‭(Judges‬ ‭16‬:‭20‬). Like Samson, there are so many believers who are praying for the anointing but don’t want to pay the price of consecration and sanctification. If you want your head to always have the anointing, then you must ensure that your garment is always clean (Ecc 9:8). The anointing grows in a holy life. In other words, sanctification and separation attract the anointing (Hebrews 1:9).
As great as it is to be anointed, yet it can be dangerous when abused. Nadab and Abihu, the sons of Aaron, Samson and Saul all died when they took the anointing upon them for granted (Lev 10:1-3; Judg 16:30; 2 Sam 1:21).
Friends, sin corrupts the anointing and leaves behind serious consequences. May you never be a casualty of the anointing in Jesus name.

Prayer points
1. Father, please help me to live holy and never to take your anointing upon me for granted in Jesus name.
2. I refuse to be a casualty of the anointing and to die like someone not anointed with oil in Jesus name.

Today’s declarations
1. To receive the anointing and to continue in sin is to take the anointing for granted.
2. To grow in the anointing, I must be ready to pay a higher price of consecration.
