THE BELT OF TRUTH

THE BELT OF TRUTH

Text: Ephesians 6:10-14
Memory verse:
”And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”“
‭‭John‬ ‭8‬:‭32‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

The devil has no doubt about the truth that you have been raised far higher than him and that you have authority over him. All he is out to achieve first is to keep you out of the knowledge of this truth. He knows that the moment you know this, you will break out of his captivity (John 8:32). Kings who are ignorant of their authority behave like subjects. Ignorant believers beg instead of demanding their rights. They count poverty, affliction, sickness, disease, and oppression as signs of humility and spirituality.
The second thing he is out to achieve is to attack the believers who already know their authority in Christ as they attempt to use their authority on him. In the midst of the trials, temptations, and challenges, he causes them to doubt their authority and to back out. The scriptures warned against this. You see, it is not only about knowing the truth but holding fast to the truth; not only about confessing your victory over the devil but holding fast to the confession!
The believers are enjoined to put on the whole armour as we engage in spiritual warfare. Wearing the full armour guarantees our safety, protection, and unquestionable victory.
The first in the list of the armours is also about the truth. It is called the belt of truth. ”Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth…“ (‭‭Eph‬ ‭6‬:‭14‬). It is knowing and having a clear understanding of God’s word. It is also living in the truth. To live in the truth is to live in the light and to live in lies is to live in darkness. God dwells in truth and lives in light, but the devil dwells in lies and lives in darkness. The believers are to live in the truth and speak the truth. We are to live an open life. ”And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather expose them.“ (‭‭Eph‬ ‭5‬:‭11‬).
Living in untruthfulness makes a believer lose his or her authority or to weaken it. Unconfessed sins erode your authority and give the devil advantage. So long as you still enjoy lying and living the secret life of sin, all other armours will be made ineffective. Like a soldier’s belt, the belt of truth holds the rest armour in place.
Friends, living in untruthfulness will erode your authority and even put you at risk of spiritual welfare.

Prayer points
1. Father, give me a clear understanding of Your word and my authority in Christ, in Jesus’ name.
2. Father, help me to love the truth and to live, walk, and speak the truth always, lest my authority be eroded, in Jesus’ name.

Today’s declarations
1. Knowing the truth and living it provides the belt that keeps all other armours firm in me.
2. I don’t fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, lest satan take advantage of me, and my authority is eroded.
